Hi ladies, need some help. I went for a wee lastnight and a gush of bright red blood came out (I say gush it was prob about 2 teaspoons worth). Im 7+1. There was no pain. I put a pad on so i could monitor any bleeding through the night but there was none. I woke up at 5am and had a bit of pain right low down, just under my c-section scar. After another wee there was 1 or 2 drops of red blood. No blood throughout the night. I went to the loo again and this time there was another gush but it was all brown like the end of a period. The pain in my pubic area has gone now and i still feel sick, sore boobs etc. This is the time of the month my period would have been due and when i had my daughter I bled for 2 days when i hit 7 weeks (ive always bled heavy, a period usually lasts between 9-12 days for me). So based on all that do you think this is an implantation bleed or could I be losing the baby? I know this sounds silly and people will prob have a go at me for it but im scared to go to the dr's incase he wants to give me an internal examination..... I have never agreed to one of these, I was abused as a child and just cant face it. Im hoping the fact that the bleeding has now turned brown and i have no pain n still all my symptoms that this is a good sign?

    Hi teabag29,

Sorry to hear you're having such a worrying morning. I had what you experienced at the same stage with this pregnancy - a gush of red blood followed by a little brown blood which then eased off entirely. I'm now 23 weeks. However, that said I think you need to get checked out. I'm sure you can request not to have an internal exam (entirely understandably), and they can do a scan instead to see baby's heartbeat and check they're in the right place. Please ring your GP, midwife, or contact your local early pregnancy unit at the hospital directly for advice if you can.

All the best, and keeping everything crossed for good news for you.

Thanks, will they scan me though because i only had a scan on Tuesday night (a private one) and baby was in right place with strong heartbeat so I know its where it should be

I had 3 episodes of bleeding like that (red then brown) over the course of the week and they scanned me each time. It's a good sign that you've already seen baby and the heartbeat, but I was told that any red blood needs to be checked out, and that they'd far rather see you than have you worry alone and unnecessarily :)

    Good luck.

teabag29 - I'm definitely going to echo what stsarina has already said, but if you're worried, tell someone and get checked. I had bleeding in the shower at 6+4, just like what you are describing, then a bit of brown spotting at 9 weeks, and again at 11 weeks. I'm 19+4 today with a little wriggler. The fact that it was red blood = get checked out. The fact that it isn't constant and you had a bit of brown blood is usually a good sign though. Keep us updated, because we will want to know how you're doing!

I would doubt at that stage theyd do an internal - I had 2 done but I was 20 weeks when I had bleeding so they needed to check if I was dilating or my waters had gone, so a bit different from 7 weeks. I cant see what it would achieve for you.

They are more likely to do a scan - you dont have to tell them youve already had a private one. But just remember its likely that scan might be an internal one with the dildo cam because the baby is so small at that stage. They probably can see it through your stomach but in order to get a better view and check everything they might need to - I had one done though before and its much more dignified than an exam theres no speculum or any one 'looking' up there, because theyre just scanning you & looking at the screen, and not actually at you.

Id see if your gp can refer you to the EPU. I dont think GPs tend to do that type of thing anyway x

Teabag29 - i can only echo the great advice others have given but didnt want to read and run. I wish you all the best *hugs*.

mysecretalias - this is hilarious! probably not for your OH - i'm sure it was quite a shock. Just wondering if you have had any more since? I think i am starting to 'leak' too, i say i think because i only started noticing my nipples are a little damp about an hour ago.

Mary - i am also eating a small hole through the world...Starving all the time! I eat when i feel hungry rather than proper meal times because i'm scared about starting to feel sick when i get hungry like during the morning sickness time. If i got to that point then i couldnt eat at all. Think i need to try and regulate things a bit more. But i try to stick to fruit or cereal for snacks so hope it's not too bad!

Firey - Definitely make the most of the free dental care, i HATE the dentist and have been putting it off since getting my card but i know i need to go :-(
  • Teabag29 you MUST call the doctor or local midwife unit at the hospital, if you don't want an internal examination by a male doctor you're fully entitled to ask for a female to do so, but I doubt they would do an internal at this point, more like another scan to check baby is ok.

More than likely I'm sure your baby is fine but you absolutely have to phone if in doubt, rather than leave it.

As for me I'm glad I provided some hilarity with my nipple story.....I'm still chuckling about it!!

Teabag I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding, its been a few hours since you posted so I hope you were able to get medical attention and that all is well with your little one xxxx

Cllola I love your phrase "eating a small hole in the world!" Its these girls making us so hungry! Mrs TM thanks for the tip I never really thought of it that way, I had some mushroom soup for lunch, tomato soup with chips for tea followed by a bowl of grapes, national yoghurt and honey so diet is better today!

And mysec, that really was tmi! Eew! But it does sound very funny:rotfl:
