What are most people's plans re returning to work?
Our Chief Exec won't listen to mine (! so fricking annoying) but currently my proposal is going to be that I return to work 4 days a week and do Tues-Fri. My direct manager does Mon-Thurs so it fits with her and Monday is going to be the hardest day family wise as bf has work then rugby training, which he could really do with more support at (mostly for loading/unloading the car to be fair and bench based prep - so I'd be doing less mechanic stuff but still be able to help out reffing etc) then the other days childcare wise would go:
*Tues - bf's day off anyway
*Wed - bf works 8-12 but his mum doesn't start until 3.30 so has offer to have baby when I go to work then bf pick her up when he's done
*Thurs - same as Wed
*Fri - baby to go to crèche at bf's mum's work either half day or full day - max £20 per week
*weekends - I'm off both days
Just have to get the Chief Exec to agree to it on the same pay I'm on now. I do more than enough to justify it so he had better agree to keep me happy :P************************************

Lushlifesaver I currently work Mon - Fri (37 1/2 hours).
My plan (if boss agrees) is drop Mondays and Thursdays and drop a few hours on a Friday, so it would go..
Mon - OFF
Tues - 09:00 - 17:30 (OH mam / my mam or Childcare)
Wed - 09:00 - 17:30 (OH Mam or Childcare)
Thurs - OFF
Friday - 09:00 - 13:00 (my mam)
I don't think they will let me drop the half day on Friday but we'll see - they are never around to have this discussion with!
I should be on the same wage (per hour) they would just have to work out the hourly rate as i'm on a salary.
My OH works as a long distance lorry driver 4 days on 4 days off, so for the days he is off when i'm at work obviously we wouldn't need the help off our parents or childcare. (and the Friday's he's home I would probably work the full 7 1/2 hours)
Just hope managers agree0 -

They mix feed in special care because babies can be in for a long time and I don't think any of the mums were managing to exclusively breast-feed, although many were expressing / mixed feeding. So some parts of the NHS aren't so militant about bfing.
Ironically, milk appeared from everywhere for us too once noticed how much weight my son had lost - we were even asked which brand we would like to start him on....... We did of course only use their milk to start off and hubby then picked up our own for the following day. I guess it's really all down to costs.....TTC #3..........0 -
Morning everyone!!
Whoever mentioned runny eggs and Camembert is now officially in my bad books....those are my two HUGE loves.....I miss them soooo much!!!
Still off sick and in bed here, my hip is hurting still and this cold is unrelentingI have to say I did rub Vicks in last night before bed but I will switch to something else. Am really hoping I start to feel better by the weekend, as we're supposed to be going for dinner with friends on Friday and going to stay with others for the weekend.
Hope everyone else is feeling a bit better today!
Re prams we have thought lots about prams, we have started looking this early so we can get one that suits us. I actually started a thread over on the money saving mums forum about it and lots of people gave me some really great advice, so feel free to nosy at it if it helps!! I don't know how to post links but I will try and work it out! Lol.
On the subject of maternity and money, we haven't thought that much about it yet. I get full pay for 6 months so no worries there, then 1/2 pay for 3 months, which will be a little tight (I earn more than OH but I think we would have enough to get by still) and then NO pay for the last 3 months, this is where we would struggle. I opened an ISA a while ago and haven't paid anything into it since I may start paying a little in every month to try and cover those 3 months.
The problem with us is, with planning to buy a house early next year (not that we've found one yet!!) we don't actually know what our expenses/mortgage will be yet, so it's not too easy to sit and work out what our exact outgoings will be. Hopefully once we've brought somewhere we will have a better idea of how much we need to tide us over for those last 3 months, but I do like the idea of stocking up on 'staples' beforehand to keep expenses down.
We haven't thought much about childcare once I go back after 12 months yet. Neither OH nor I want to reduce our days (both currently full time) because it would mean a reduction in our wage and neither of us want to make that sacrifice I don't think. My best friend who's daughter is 7 months has decided she isn't going back to work at all now, so if they are still living close to us when they've brought their house and we've brought ours then she can look after our baby for us. If they aren't (they're currently planning to move about 45 minutes away and I'm trying to persuade them not to!!) then I don't know what we will do! But at least we've got a year before we have to start thinking properly about it.
So much thinking to do!!! How do others cope honestly I feel like my brain is going 100mph constantly with all the decisions to make! Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

p.s. This might sound really strange but has anyone else noticed their sense of taste being off? I've just sat here and eaten weetabix and had a cup of tea and both tasted extremely strange for no apparent reason!!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

I had that when I had bad sickness.
Plain cheddar cheese tasted unbelievably vile to me. I can eat it now though!0 -
Mysecretalias - I don't think it's silly at all to want all of you to have the same name. I always knew I'd want my hubby and I to have the same name and our children to have then same name. You should drop more than a hint… :rotfl:
Hope everyone else is well. I don't like runny eggs but do love eggs - Asda had a 6 pack mixed weight free range box for 50p a few days ago so we picked up 3 boxes :rotfl:
Will definitely miss the pate and the soft cheese this Christmas.......TTC #3..........0 -

That's really weird because I do love cheddar but I used to hate plain cheddar cheese sandwiches before and I ended up making myself one and eating it the other day!Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

I'm salaried but I'm going to be looking for work to keep me on the same take home as I get now - they won't get any less out of me than they do now and I have done a ton of good work for them since I started in February!************************************
