Interested in this from the perspective of someone using an Ovivo sim in a dumb-Phone. Clearly they can serve no ads, so will such a user get the same Dear John letter as the OP after a period of grace? How long's that likely to be?
I don't think that'll happen, for the following reasons ...
1) their FAQs specifically state
2) the T&C's says you'll get banned if you use services which are "designed to bypass, prevent or hinder OVIVO Mobile from serving mobile marketing messages" [i.e. ad-blockers], which you're not,We support all types of phones, both Smartphones and Non-Smart Phones will work with our service
3) They've recently teamed-up with a company that deals with text adverts, so I guess people with non-smart phones will start getting them (along with the rest of us!).0 -
I've been using Ovivo for nearly a year and haven't spent 1p on top of my allowance,I still have £5 left from my initial credit too.
I have used it since June, always have the adblock on since I was not aware of the issue (have no problem with switching it off when I need to, btw AS LONG AS I AM AWARE IT IS REQUIRED). Never heard from Ovivo until today when I was left without a phone without warning.
I suspect they cut me off because I still have £15 credit and I never spend. Ironically I intended to make calls abroad tonight for my impending travel. No one can call me at the moment so that comes in really handy.
I posted this thread for two reasons. (1) A warning for those who use the service (which is not registered with an Ofcom scheme, btw, so complaining will be difficult). (2) Was hoping for recommendations what SIM to get in the interim.0 -

The fact is that this is a free service, funded by adverts and the T&Cs may this very clear. They also state what will happen if you flout them, which you clearly have done.
From their perspective, you were trying to cheat them by taking the free service but deliberately blocking the ads that pay for it.

The reason given is that I have used an adblocker when using up my data allowance. It makes no sense to accuse me of this now since I have used the data in the same way for months. You should not ignore the thicko comment. I posted the answer to your question above. This is why I made the thicko comment. Posting T&C T&C T&C over and over again is pointless, just do not post anything.
My point is simple - Ovivo could have sent ONE email saying "You are using Adblocker, Don't" and I would have known. Just cancelling my contract is not on.

You are the only thicko here, you admit that you deliberately took steps to block the advertising which funds the service that you had agreed to.
