I don't much like the traditional white wedding dresses myself, - they seem very old-fashioned now.
I can't remember the last time I went to a wedding where the bride did wear white.0 -
I can not even remember what my wife's dress looked like 16 years ago...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

DH wore his suit, but he had his appalling parka jacket on top when he walked into church. (Actually it was the replacement for the appalling parka jacket, but we'll let that pass.)
So he walked up to the front of church, then walked to the back to hang his coat up. I'm told this caused some amusement to the assembled throng, who thought he might have changed his mind.
I, of course, was busy being fashionably late. In a very plain cream dress I'd made myself.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I got married in my shorts and t shirt as did my DH first time I had an ivory cocktail dress..never fancied the big white dress myself.0

Go for red if that's what you want - It's your day to wear what YOU want, not what everybody else wants/expects!
My DD gets married later this month and she's wearing a gold knee length dress and looks absolutely stunning. She's not having flowers either. Her Sis is her only bridesmaid and she's wearing a lovely dress she has in her wardrobe! Good on her, it's their wedding so it's up to them what they want to do.
I wore an ivory jersey maxi dress that I bought in the C&A sales, a big floppy hat and carried a basket of dried flowers! That was in the 70's. I thought I looked lovely!"It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
I'm not even marrying in traditional 'english' wedding attire, I intend to go my mothers ethnicity and wear a traditional Thai wedding dress. They are absolutely lovely and come in a range of colours and styles like these:

Wear whatever you like
White wedding dresses only became tradition after Queen Victoria wore a white lace gown, everyone wore coloured dresses before that with red being a popular choice:)2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

My wedding dress was oyster (a shimmering gold) as I'm very fair, don't tan, and fake tan was rare when I got married.
I tried on all the white, cream and ivory dresses in the dress shop and I looked like a ghost in all of them. I actually looked like I was alive in this dress, which was good as I fell in love with it on the rack!
Wear what you want, it's your day.Proud to be dealing with my debts
