It has only been 'traditional' for a bride to marry in white since Victorian times and there have ALWAYS been brides who have gone their own way!
It is your wedding and you can wear what you want to wear!
  • My daughter gets married next year and looked much to ghostly in white and does not do fake tans so she chose a ivory dress which was stunning, she is having the train shortened as she doesn't want to tuck it in her knickers when she does the (wedding dance) lord knows what they are doing (she just says wait and see).
  • My friend married in a prom dress. She looked beautiful and the dress was loads cheaper than a wedding dress :money:

I wore black and red in a chapel wedding, my first and hopefully only wedding. You should wear what makes you comfortable and happy!

I think red is such a rich, warm and eye catching colour. A friend of mine wore a stunning red dress a couple of years ago when she got married and she looked amazing. If the colour suits you go for it. When I got married I didn't want to wear white either. I wore an ivory coloured dress instead.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

I wore a black 50s style prom dress to my wedding and I loved it. Wear what you want it is your big day :D

Definetly wear whatever you want. My mum has already expressed sheer horror at the fact i'm adamant i don't want a white wedding dress (and possibly not even a wedding dress-would rather wear something i might wear again) :p Not that i'm getting married anytime soon

I love it when brides turn convention upside down. I helped do the chair covers for a wedding with a black/white theme. it looked stunning! The reception theme was 'Top Gun'.
and everyone was gobsmacked that the bride wore black ( a really stunning evening gown) and the bridesmaids wore white ( a collection of different prom dresses). but it worked beautifully!
  • I'm getting married for the second time next year and am on the lookout for a lovely purple dress, my favourite colour! Hoping there will be some gorgeous occasion dresses in the Christmas/New Year sales. First time I got married I wore a red dress with black lace overlay. I knew that I didn't want to wear white & didn't want/need to spend a fortune on a dress.

I got married in a midnight blue long evening dress from Debenhams :) Dark suits me, pale does not :)

Wear what you want - no rule it has to be white :)
