The link says standing charges for May 2015 fix as .
19.44 p per day each fuel .0 -
Indeed.
I was getting to do a switch in the next week or 2 (probably separate suppliers for me this time) but I've received a letter from EDF today.
Final paragraph about what if you want to change supplier includes:
So I think I'll delay any application to switch for more like 3 weeks now and continue to take advantage of the current, cheap EDF tariff for as long as possible
..My understanding of this "promise" is that it DOESN'T apply to tariffs with a fixed end date -so any energy used after 30/4 will be charged at their (expensive) current variable rate:eek:
Hopefully I'm wrong but ........................0 -

Elec .14 p & Gas .23p to Elec .19p & Gas .26p
per day with EDF! that's crazy, £164 per year just in standing charges...
I don't think this is right. It's an increase of 5p and 3p per day respectively. 8p x 365/100 = £29.20 increase p.a.Je suis sabot...0 -

Your fixed term tariff is coming to an end.
Further down it has the quoted text:
If you do decide to leave, as long as your new supplier tells us by 30 April 2014 we'll continue to hold your current prices until you switch.
Looks pretty straightforward to me, but this is EDF...:)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Switch after 30th its the standard tariff .As i understand its not the date that you kick off the start to change supplier . More when that supplier actually informs your existing supplier .
Fer instance i asked to switch 13-3-14 .
Ovo now inform me that my cooling off period has ended .
They will now send a request to take over my gas supply ( gas takeover takes longer ) Then a request for takeover of electric .Probable switch date 14-4-14 .
It will be those who delay initiating a switch that may end up on the expensive standard tariff for a week or two .0 -

It does appear to be as you saw. The calculated annual cost uses those daily standing charges too. It's just that the rate per kWh is higher than their other tariffs, so the total is also higher.
Their standing charge on the shorter fix is shown as 19.44 pence/day for each fuel, but rates per kWh are much lower.
The longer fix could therefore work out pretty good for a light user, if you can deal with the FU attitude!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
