As a holding measure, I have signed up to move to EDF Fixed Price June 2015 (no termination fees) when my current EDF fixed tariff ends on 30 April. Keeping an eye open for better options as end of current fix approaches. Just been on energyhelpline comparison site and ExtraEnergy fixed price September 2015 (£25 early termination for each fuel) would be c £190 pa cheaper than the EDF June 2015 tariff and be fixed for longer. Their service rating on energyhelpline as 3* is also better than EDf 2*.
Seems tempting, but I do not recall seeing extraenergy appearing before and it is referred to as a new UK energy company.
Wondered if anyone had experience/info on them or was also consideration switching to them.

Be careful with looking at the figures that EDF give you on their so called "personalised webpage" (or their emails). That page states:

"Forecasted annual cost is based on you payment method, region and meter type at Ofgem typical consumption of 3,200kWh for Standard meter electricity, 13,500kWh for Standard meter gas, and 4,600kWh of electricity for Economy 7 customers (for single fuel 55% on night rate, and for dual fuel 20% on night rate)."

So they are not using your consumption figures when comparing their different tariffs!

Also, on the 2015 Price Promise you will still get alerts:

    "Price-alert service
    7. Once we have begun to supply you on the Blue+Price
Promise June 2015 tariff, you will receive a regular
update about your product status compared with the
market. So if we find that a supplier (including us) has
released a new product which, based on:"

I've just signed up for the 2015 Price Promise because I don't have the time at the moment to look at the market to see what else is around, but as there's no early exit charge I can do this over the next year or so, when it suits me.

I also have changed to Blue 2015 as the no exit penalties gives me the leeway to take my time and see what maybe in the budget (!!!!!! all i suppose but well).

EDF now way too expensive. Separate G & E will cost me £9 pa more than current (G -£15 12m fix, E +£24 Sep 15 fix), cheapest EDF is +£189 Jun 15. I see NPower have just dropped out of the cheap fix game, cheapest now +£237 Mar 16.

You've answered your own question ;)

If they make it complicated they think it puts us off switching!!

Thought the Govt was supposed to be forcing them to simplify things :(

Now that this tariff is nearing an end, let me rekindle this thread as now is the time to switch....

I will be researching and posting my findings here but in the meantime, if someone has already done so please share the info!

You might wish to consider Scottish Power’s current dual-fuel “Online Fixed Price Energy June (30th) 2015” offer.

For my own family’s consumption, in England, it shows on EnergyHelpline, today, as being £197 cheaper per annum than EDF’s “Blue + Price Promise June (30th) 2015” offer.

This is one comparison that really is “like-for-like”, with no distorting factors arising from differing durations.

Both these deals are for the same length of time and run for the next 15 months, so, my family's final saving with Scottish Power, instead of EDF, would be well over £200.

At that figure, the £25 + £25 dual-fuel early termination fees levied by Scottish Power for premature cancellation and switching elsewhere (if, indeed, one even wanted to do so) would be easily absorbed. These would, in any case, cancel out entirely, compared to EDF, after the first three months or so of being on a lower tariff, still leaving a potential saving of £200 over the remaining twelve months.

Your own energy consumptions will, of course, be different to my family's but it’s worth performing the comparison between the Scottish Power offer and the EDF offer with your own figures.

And, if you switch away from EDF and go to Scottish Power (or another supplier), you can get a useful little cashback by using Quidco or Top Cashback to access the comparison site when you make the switch. That, of course, is not a motivating factor but it’s a nice little bonus and it compensates, to some extent, for the early termination liability you inherit with Scottish Power.

Anyway, I hope this saves you some money! :money:

Scottish power works out £27 cheaper for me.
I am using the leeway of 1 1/2 month to my advantage and getting the full use of my april 2014 fix before taking any plunges.
    £27 no thanks.

First Utility can save me £106 per year so a i may aswell wait till end of april.

By the way this is based on what would be my new tariff from EDF.

I have switched to British Gas May 2015 fixed as it is £105 a year cheaper than EDF Blue + 2015.
