Scottish power works out £27 cheaper for me.
I am using the leeway of 1 1/2 month to my advantage and getting the full use of my april 2014 fix before taking any plunges.
£27 no thanks.
First Utility can save me £106 per year so a i may aswell wait till end of april.
By the way this is based on what would be my new tariff from EDF.
My family’s annual domestic consumption of energy at our home in England is 23,500 KwH of gas and 10,300 KwH of electricity.
On Scottish Power’s current dual-fuel “Online Fixed Price Energy June (30th) 2015” offer that would cost £2,148.
On EDF’s “Blue + Price Promise June (30th) 2015” offer it would cost £2,345.
That would make the EDF offer £197 more expensive for them, per annum, than the Scottish Power offer.
Clearly, your own consumption rate of energy is different!
This goes to show, doesn’t it, how important it is for everybody to work with their own exact figures and not rely upon those quoted for the “average U.K. house” (whatever such a thing may be). The latter are grossly misleading and could prove disastrous for some who simply take them at face value.Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

I ran my figures -- approx 25,000 gas and 5,000 electricity. OVO is the cheapest but, having read up on them, I didn't fancy moving to them until they improve customer service. I have opted for the Scottish Power deal. Better tariff but higher fixed charges than the current EDF deal.Je suis sabot...0

& dont forget you usually can only get a switching bonus once with each supplier (unless anyone knows different) If yove switched a few times it gets difficult to find a bonus.0

For me the SP Jun 15 is £20 cheaper than the EDF fix but going separate fuels is £160 cheaper than SP !!
edit ....... Looks like I need to factor in the loss of my Santander 2% DD discount, around £24 pa, as it only seems to be available with the Big 60 -

Yes as you say there is a vast difference in usage.0 -

You will get 2% Sandander 123 cashback with Scottish Power, as I will from OVO, so it isn't only the 'Big 6'0 -
As a holding measure, I have signed up to move to EDF Fixed Price June 2015 (no termination fees) when my current EDF fixed tariff ends on 30 April. Keeping an eye open for better options as end of current fix approaches. Just been on energyhelpline comparison site and ExtraEnergy fixed price September 2015 (£25 early termination for each fuel) would be c £190 pa cheaper than the EDF June 2015 tariff and be fixed for longer. Their service rating on energyhelpline as 3* is also better than EDf 2*.
Seems tempting, but I do not recall seeing extraenergy appearing before and it is referred to as a new UK energy company.
Wondered if anyone had experience/info on them or was also consideration switching to them.
I have chosen to switch to Extraenergy. They and Ovo came out the same for me but Extraenergy had an extra 6 month fix to September 2015 so I went for them in the end.
I signed up last Wednesday and got the confirmation of the switch from energyhelpline but nothing from Extraenergy as yet. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Thanks - would be great if you could provide update on developments as switch progresses; hopefully with no problems.0 -

Extraenergy is a clear winner for me - £15 pa cheaper than Ovo 12 month fix and £140 less than EDF June 2015 fix:eek:! with added advantage of extra 3 months - am now cogitating on the switch to an "unknown" supplier.
Still going to cost me over £100 pa than currently, unfortunately:(0 -

I will be researching and posting my findings here but in the meantime, if someone has already done so please share the info!
Indeed.
I was getting to do a switch in the next week or 2 (probably separate suppliers for me this time) but I've received a letter from EDF today.
Final paragraph about what if you want to change supplier includes:If you do decide to leave, as long as your new supplier tells us by 30 April 2014 we'll continue to hold your current prices until you switch.
So I think I'll delay any application to switch for more like 3 weeks now and continue to take advantage of the current, cheap EDF tariff for as long as possible :beer:0
