  • To keep on top of the comps I have entered and to easily grab the latest posts I use an rss reader.

When a new thread is created on the competitions board then the rss reader will pick it up and display it. You can keep track of the competitions you have entered and not entered by marking posts as 'read' or 'unread' (much like e-mail clients).

I use the free desktop rss reader 'Snarfer' (you can download this from download.com). To subscribe to the competitions board click on the '+' icon and enter the address http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/external.html?type=RSS2&forumids=72
  • Hi guys!

Im fairly new to the comp side and am wondering where you all go to? Do you just google 'competitions'? I know there are some that are posted on MSE, but just wanting other ways to find and enter (preferably on the internet)!

    Thanks,

    B & T X

Best bet is uk.rec.competitions newsgroup, best read with a proper newsgroup reader or something like the Opera brower, you can also browse it at

Y'know those postal ones in the separate thread? Well, do any of them also appear in the online entry competitions?

Just answered that myself, by doing a search on the web, so I'll be careful with those!!

A little tip from the last two weeks: if you go in for tickets you might only get a call a few hours before the concert / performance, etc, on the day itself - this has happened to me twice in the last two weeks!

Not that I am complaining - it was great to win, I was available, and we had a good time at both venues.:j

Actually I was going to post this somewhere, today I was shopping in Morrisons and I always collect the entry forms around the store.
Well now, it appears you can enter them online, and the one that I did pick up today is on here.
In a way it's good cause you can enter them even if your store hasn't got the entry form, but just don't replicate yourself.

To help me keep track of all comps entered I use the good-old faithful Excel spreadsheet. Enter end-date then prize and finally URL for each one entered. I can then filter by prize, end date or URL if I am unsure if I have entered any previously.

    Hi Guys

Have just discovered this thread and have seen how much is out there to win and have decided to give it a go (just hope I dont get addicted!):o

I was just wondering when you enter the competitions what do you do with regards to ticking the boxes regarding receiving info from either the site or "3rd parties"?? Does the fact that you select not to receive info affect your chances of winning?!

Sorry if that seems like a stupid question or is posted in the wrong place or the answer is already on here-cant see it for looking!!

    Thanks in advance

Hi valleylass - good luck in not getting addicted to comping! You wait until those wins start coming in & there'll be no holding you back :D

In answer to your question about the marketing & 3rd party contact I ALWAYS indicate a big fat 'no' to both of those (unless it is something that I'd really like to hear more about or if it is a comp you enter by signing up for the newsletter  )

I have to say I think I've been really lucky with wins & it seems to have made no difference whatsoever to whether I win or not :) Just means I end up with less spam & on less junk mail lists ;)

    Hope that helps!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
