Hi....If you select USER CP (its near the top of the page in blue) then select Edit Signature. HTH.JUNE: Wine - DVD :j0

Thanks kath, I've saved that.
I've just thought of another tip:
If you enter a comp on an IPC site (and there are many of those on here), you can ignore the first of the (normally?) four opt-out boxes.
Just click the last three.
I have never seen this deviate from what I have said above.
The first one, basically, says please send me spam, whereas the last three say no to spam or agree to terms.
Now I need to work out which one has about eight of nine that need un-ticking.
I'll post that here, as soon as I work it out.
Hope this helps someone.:DAl Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

Just had a thought about the post just above, about small companies only choosing peops who have accepted the opt-INS.
Well, you takes your chances, and the biggies on this site ( those peops who have been here for ages) say that they don't bother opting in.
And they seem to win loads.
Envy. Lots of it.Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

got 3 days of comping to do well it'll be 4 by tomorrow
havent been doing it got kinda bored of it just been scanning the comps etc etc

i tick everything i dont mind a few junk emails
i tick no correspondance by phone though
we get enough cold callers as it is0 -
I hardly get any cold calls after registering with the telephone preference site or whatever it was called, a year or so ago. That said, I got one yesterday - for the first time in ages as a result of 'clicking a banner' on a website.
There's a mail preference site, too, although I am not sure that that has made much difference to what I receive (and recycle!).Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

Re: Something I posted earlier on.
I remembered the company that always has four opt-out boxes, or whatever you call them.
It's IPC Magazines, and you see their name mentioned in the paragraph that goes with the first box.
I click the last three only.
Is this helpful, or am I just rambling?:rotfl:Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

Two new qs come to mind:
1) How do you know if peops have replied to threads that you have submitted? Just the other day cheeky chicken showed me that I had to change the closing date of a comp I had submitted - thru no fault of my own - and it was only by chance that I noticed it. I have seen other (more experienced) members replying very quickly, and wondered of there was a way of linking, so that I could keep track and be responsible. I have had a few pms, but they don't cover this.
2) I've been using Roboform (which has been so helpful, to say the least) for a short while now, and have obviously overrun on the free bit - should I keep using it and ignore the 'buy the better one' box that turns up every time I try to use a passcard, re-install it, or buy it? I can't see how that last option helps me, as for the last week or so it has carried on doing what I like it for; it just shows the box mentioned above.

Answer to ya questions Ricky
a) to check to see if someone has responded to your thread, go into your usercp (at the top of the page) this will show you your subscribed threads, basically any you have started or posted on
b) I've only got the trial Roboform and never had a problem with it as long as I keep the passcards below 10, anything over that it asks me to upgrade0 -

Go to user cp at top (green bar) - List Subscriptions (on left)
Tick the threads that you want
Selected Threads: drop down menu (at bottom) - select instant email notification

Set Default Thread Subscription Mode to instant email notification0 -
I just replied to a thread about email comps(which will probably be moved to Discussion Thread later) I realised it would be useful to add it here
I used to hate doing the email comps but then I saved my details as a signature & now when I click for a new email (either on a comp link or on my Outlook), the signature appears on the email.
All I have to do when I am not sending in a comp is a quick swipe with the mouse to highlight & hit the delete key to remove my email address - details are gone ready for me to write a 'normal' email
If it helps I have the following saved:
Answer:
Name
Add
Add
Add
Add
Add
mobile no.
email addy
Again, if the comp just needs an email (with no answer) I just delete the 'Answer:' from the email which moves my address up a bit & then I hit send. Or if they only want the answer, name, address & phone number another quick swipe with the mouse, hit the delete key & sorted!
It literally takes a few seconds, quicker even than most website entries
Hope this helps, as it saved me so much time when I thought of it!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0
