The basic rules about the comp forum are missing too. Posting here just for reference for new compers until the posts come back:MSE_Martin wrote:
The Competitions Forum, rules and where to begin
<hr style="color: rgb(102, 0, 0);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> Welcome to the new forum. The aim is to list all the free competitions that are around, after all if it's free and you win it - then it's good MoneySaving.
Competitions can be found anywhere and everywhere. Online, in shops, magazines on the TV. Providing they're open to everyone (ie not invite only) then do post them here.
So do scan the web and report a contest. Hopefully a MoneySaver will win. If you're entering online contests, then its worth using a separate e-mail address, it'll stop the risk of spam emails. Just set up a Hotmail, Yahoo or MSN address.
1. Competitions must be open to all If you are invited specially to do a competition with a code, and the competition isn't open to all. Please do not post the codes here, that is breaking terms and conditions of a competition runner and could be seen as incitement to breach contract. (something neither I nor the poster want).
2. Free Competitions Only. This is a not a place to advertise competitions you have to pay to enter. I will accept limited cost text message type competitons (though frankly they're usually naff apart from in special circumstances) where they cost up to £1.50 to text to enter, but generally I would say make sure they are free.
3. No Pyramid Selling. Pyramids where - if you join a list - you may get a X, Y, Z are absolutely no part of this board, or any board on the site. I don't want them here please report them if you spot them.
4. Where did you spot the competition? If you spot a competition it'd be helpful for everyone to know where you got it from. It helps them know how legitimate it is for them to enter.
5. Report your winnings. If you win, we want to know. It's fun - so please use the I WON I WON board to report your winnings.
6. Include the closing date in the title. Please include the closing date of the competition in the title of the thread you are starting. This way once it is closed it can be moved to the 'Game over' board
7. No Bumping of threads. Please dont just bump threads you have posted for the sake of it!! Most posters search through the pages and enter most comps. This is why the thanks button was introduced to stop the bumping of threads. Of course conversation is still allowed!!!
8. Duplicate threads. Duplicate theads will be merged/deleted. This makes it clearer for posters, as entering more than once can disqualify you.
9. No Voting Posts. Please do not post threads asking for votes for a competition prize. These should be placed on the referers board as you personally have something to gain out of the post.
And as always please be nice to other MoneySavers.....

Any weekly or monthly comps should be placed on the regular competitions board. These will be locked after a month of posting just to archive them. It is nothing more than that. It is nothing personal to the OP.
Please also remember to do a search first to make sure the competition is not already listed.0 -
I have to say that generally Mumszone do not have the same prizes as others its just at the moment with the run up to Christmas that certain organisations are targeting all the parenting sites. They are running a competition a day at the moment, all different prizes. :beer:Wins: Feb - Sam and Amanda DVD, Nanny Series, £50 Mother Day Goodies box0

Need to ask a quick question: I have opened up a new email addy for the comps that I enter so as not to attract spam. What about my home addy? and my phone number? Most do not require a phone number but most do require a home addy. Should I just put it in, or am I opening myself up to mail spam heaven?0

Hi tony
I am just always really careful when ticking or not ticking the boxes that are optin/optouts for mail.
The only thing I slipped up on was an Enjoy England brochure which arrived, which isn't bad & actually was quite interesting!
Just be extra careful when the boxes have a double negative! eg, untick this box only if you do not want to hear from xxxSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
I was just wondering whether those of you who don't have kids ever lie about your age for comps (e.g. citv 16 and under comps)? I never have because I'd feel guilty and also scared they might catch me out but I always wonder...Wins: Jan-Sept:£1991.27, Nov: "The Rough Guide to the iPhone" book, "FWD this link" book ... £12.98
Win £2008 in 2008 number 60, only £3.75 to go! (it is highly likely I'll win absolutely nothing else now this year!)

I've set up a VOIP account at sipgate, and just turned on voicemail and I get an email when I have voicemail with the voicemail as an attachment, I am also using a freebie sim card for my mobile number with voicemail turned on too.
No one gets my real numbers except family and friends.0 -
Hi all.
Read in a thread recently that you were barred from entering a Virgin comp for a year (?) if you had won a comp with them over a certain amount (I think £100 was mentioned).
Is this a common inclusion in T&Cs?
Replies very gratefully received!:beer:Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188
