    Hi guys,

Just wondering, it says that you can apply up until 8th October, does that mean today is the last day to apply?

I'm going to apply online, but my dad wants to do it with a form. Can he do it tomorrow in the post office (i.e. if he sends the form on the 8th October will it be okay)?

    Thanks

Having read through this and other threads, I decided to apply for £750 through the government site, with the option to get a share certificate.

From speaking to people who know a lot more than me, the best idea *seems* to be stagging these shares. I understand that I would be able to do this via phone/online through an intermediary broker. My question is how exactly I would do this, and would there be a delay since I am getting the certificate rather than doing it through a nominee service?

I was aware there would be a delay in being able to sell; it was the magnitude of this delay that I was uncertain about!

    It's an online stock broker.
    Google it.

Is it true that the institutions will have the opportunity to flog off their shares a few days before the public? If that is the case then won't the demand for these shares have been satisfied by then, leading to a price fall by the time the public start selling their shares?

Thats market making. Every single day the big players start trading their shares before anyone else can at 8am.
So its just par for the course. They also trade after hours I think.

I guess thats fair as you and I could agree privately a deal whenever we like

I read it as tomorrow being the last day to apply. But did it online as an ISA just now in case! Was easy-peasy, took 2 mins, including the time to transfer the funds.

I always send share certificates by Special Delivery.

£6.22 to post a share certificate - that should swell the Royal Mail's coffers over the next few weeks.

You can still apply until around 23:59 tonight (8 October) via the website.

You dad is too late to do it by post - paper forms need to arrive by/on the 8 October so would have needed to be posted on the 7th at the latest.
