(RM is a Dec index candidate)

    This is probably the key.
Trackers have to buy no matter what.

If the unions vote to strike, when will it take place
    Christmas?
If before, then it will all be over by Christmas and they`ll make up the strike days with overtime.
    Anyway they may vote no.
The union leaders won`t be affected as they still get their fat pay cheques.

From what I remember of stikes, the pubs and bookies were always full.
Maybe we should buy shares in Wetherspoons and Ladbrookes.

Yes, it's fraud to make more than one application. Whether they'd pursue it is questionable, probably just disallow both applications and keep the money to teach you a lesson.

No it isn't. I have applied 3 times - via a direct account, via an ISA and via a SIPP. I checked with one of my brokers and they said there is nothing to stop you applying more than once just so long you have the funds.

Also, when you complete the form, the declaration at the end includes words stating you agree that is the only application in your name/for your benefit etc.
I have not had to complete a form - all of my brokers / accounts are online - and there is no such restriction / agreement during the online signup processes.

All I had to agree to was:

I confirm I am currently located in the United Kingdom, excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

I confirm that the Prospectus has been provided to me, including a clear description of the risk factors involved, prior to me making any investment decision and that my decision to invest is based solely on the Prospectus.

I confirm that you may share my personal information with the other parties to the Prospectus for the purpose of this transaction.

you are allowed to apply for unwrapped shares, and in an ISA, and in a SIPP, but only if all applications are via the same intermediary (who will amalgamate them, so they are treated as a single application if applications are scaled back).

see p. 377 of the prospectus PDF:
Investors acting on their own behalf are only permitted to make one application in the Retail Offer (whether directly or through other means). This means that investors are permitted to submit one application in the Intermediaries Offer or one application in the Direct Retail Offer. Investors are prohibited from making applications in both the Intermediaries Offer and the Direct Retail Offer.

Well thought long and hard and unlike some greedy little speculators we have decided to go for the min amount. Hopefully we can be sure of getting these.
  • Hi,
you are allowed to apply for unwrapped shares, and in an ISA, and in a SIPP, but only if all applications are via the same intermediary (who will amalgamate them, so they are treated as a single application if applications are scaled back).

and then will be allocated in the same proportion as application.

From HL faqs, see last paragraph,
    • Can I make more than one application? No, the terms of the Offer set out by Royal Mail specify that each person can only make one application. Multiple applications are not allowed.
However, if you would like to apply through more than one account, for example an ISA and SIPP, then you can. We will aggregate all the applications you make through the different accounts you hold under the same client number and make one application on your behalf.
For example: If you apply for £1,000 in your ISA and £2,000 in your SIPP, then we will make a single application for £3,000.
Please remember, there are only certain valid application amounts. This applies to applications you make through each account and to the total of all your applications if you apply through more than one account. Therefore, if, when we add your applications together, the total that you have applied for is not a valid application amount, we will reduce your total application to the next valid application amount so that we are still able to make an application on your behalf.
For example: If you apply for £2,500 within your ISA and £5,000 in your SIPP, we will reduce your application to £7,000 (because £7,500 is not a valid application amount).
Then, if your application is successful, we will split the number of shares you receive between your accounts in proportion to the amounts for which you applied (rounded down to the next whole number).
For example, if you apply for £1,000 in an ISA and £2,000 SIPP and you receive 1,500 shares, then you would receive 500 shares in your ISA and 1,000 shares in your SIPP.

It`s not the greedy LITTLE speculators that`s the problem, it`s the city wide-boy friends of Osborne that`ll be the big winners.

Well i've just put my application in this morning and i've received an email confirming everything. I know earlier in this thread some people hadn't had any sort of confirmation.

Doesn't applying at all mean you are also one of your so-called greedy little speculators?

For the record I've not applied

Which broker? Maybe your broker does confirm and others do not.

I've not used a broker, i asked for the certificate to be sent to me.
I thought given the lateness of the hour by the time i opened an account i'd miss the deadline. The paperwork can go in a box and sit there until if and when i sell, if i open a dealing a/c then i thought i'd be able to transfer to them for free, so i'm only paying one lot of fees. Reading this thread earlier suggests bargain basement dealers to go to.
