The good news is that you don't need that PIN to transfer your certificate to X-O, but you will need it when you buy or sell shares.
How do I do that transfer please? I have registered with Shareview but am awaiting my PIN. Didn't realise I could transfer before I got it.

    Thanks
  • Vortigern.

That may have changed, they send out the PIN in the post now, possibly as proof of address for money laundering maybe?

Back in February, x-o emailed my trading PIN within 15 minutes of opening my account. Check your emails and your spam folders.

You will need to wait until your shares are visible in your x-o account before you can sell.

    Special Delivery is £6.22 (IIRC)
  • Jevvers.

You can trade without an account, just select the option that says I do not have an account.

Mmm I tried that but it comes up with a message to call the phone dealing line. I don't want to do the automated phone selling as I only want to sell part of my holding. God, I'm confused by all this!

OK..I want to check I have not missed something.
I sent the certificate off together with Crest form to the address x-ogave by special delivery.

I registered with x-o and am awaiting a pin number. There nothing else to do is there to sell?

Also do x-o need to have received my certificate before I sell?
Sorry for the very basic questions. I'm new to all of this and I have had a good look through this treads, but it does get a bit confusing.
    Thank you

They told me that I can not sell until my shares are in my trading account, which is typically five days after they receive it, so back end of next week probably.

.....If I do not get my certificate in the post, who is liable for a replacement certificate? I know that Equiniti charge £42 for a new one, but if they have failed to get the cert to you in the first place, surely they are liable?

    You do worry.

Did you know you could have avoided all this worry by using the Nominee account?

Then the responsibility of looking after everything is taken off you.

Good to know. I didn't realise it would take so many days for it to show up on the account.

Many of us thought we were getting a nominee account!

I assume that you have (or expect to receive) a share certificate.
I assume that you're asking how to transfer that certificate to X-O

If so, you need to register for an account with x-o at
    http://www.x-o.co.uk/register.asp
If you're intending to sell ASAP choose "Nominee Account" not ISA, because x-o will charge you £30 to close an ISA

Then read their "How to Use" at
    http://www.x-o.co.uk/how_to_use.htm

...specifically item 5 How to transfer in a certificate.

    HTH
  • Yes I did know that Quentin, as I think a lot of other people did, but because of the way the certificate option was worded, I mistakenly chose a share certificate, because I had only read the first part (in a rush) that said your shares will be held in the nominee account. I missed the bit that said, if you want a share certificate, click here. Really poorly laid out, and if I was suspicious, I would think that it wasn't an accident, Equiniti may make a lot more money by this user error.

I am not the only one who has fallen for this sadly.
