Abundant - I did the exact same thing on Monday, I was kicking myself! Luckily there were free sandwiches kicking about they couldn't sell but it scuppered my weigh in day boo!

thrifty - I'd have been all over those grapes too, probably before she got to the bin! I hate watching people waste food, my mate always has a bit of Tupperware on her so that wherever she is (conference buffet, meal out, date) she bagsies the leftovers rather than see them go to waste. I'm not quite there yet but she's my frugal idol!

I decided against my meal out :( I just couldn't justify it. Instead I went to the supermarket and did my last shop for the month, list in hand. Pretty chuffed with what I got but a bit gutted about the lack of yellow stickers and I went at peak time too! Nevermind, an exciting weekend of gym and meal planning for me.

Morning all... I actually woke this morning feeling rather energetic. yesterday was a very relaxed case of bath, food, TV, bed... I like this routine!:)

Abundant I hate it when that happens. I get so used to my own delights that I hate going to the canteen for any reason expecially since their prices seem to be going up every second week..

Perhaps I should work in a "pass card" for one day of November when a lunch is forgotten and a £5 "stash" where it uses is preimarily for the forgotten lunch but you STILL GET AN SFD..:T

May I just mention my breakfast pot for those that care... chia seeds soaked in almond milk, topped with leftover millet to the same quantity, shredded coconut, sunflower seeds, sultanas, a sprinkly of cashews and topped up with more milk and a little 70% cocoa powder... gotta taste it yet though...:rotfl: EDIT = YUMMY!!!

So we still have 13 days to go - food budgets for many are expended.. how are we planning to tackle the coming days..? I am planning a cookathon on Sunday...

Let's push this too the end folks.. as painful as it is already!

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

    Good morning!

Today should be another SFD (number 12 I think and 6 out of 7 in a row :j) But I think I'll go to LIDL tomorrow as DS has got hardly any fruit left. Might eek it out till Sunday just to make 7/7 :p

Before I found those grapes yesterday I nearly asked a colleague for a pound for crisps but didn't. This morning I took 60p out of my wallet to get a Friday treat but put them back and packed a tub of cereal and some milk. Quite chuffed.

Made £33 pounds so far this month (mainly surveys in my lunch break) and have got 12 watchers on a pair of pumps on ebay. They better sell for at least a tenner. Bit slow at work today, so will write a list of food I got in the house and a wee meal plan to see how long I can make it last.

Off to read the last posts.

EDIT: Just went in my head through the freezer and the cupboards. Can't believe how much food we still have. Usually a week after a big shop sth has run out but this time I really just need fresh fruit, milk and bread. Wow. Got plenty of meat, fish, dry goods, potatoes, pasta, rice. I might almost make it with my only 20 quid left, Yay.

Tonights tea will be chicken pie with HM shortcrust pastry (don't have any ready made, prefer puff, but that's to complicated), veg and HM chips

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning campers!

Proud to say I have achieved a total of 15 SFD/NSD days so hitting my target of 15 NSD and 5 off target for here.

Ashamed to say that the shopping budget for the 4 of us is going to have to go up a tenner to £160 for the next week and I am not sure if £160 will be enough next month so what I plan to do on pay day next friday is withdraw £200 for the month and if it doesn't get spent thats fine, it will get carried over.

On budget for petrol as don't use car that often and won't fill up till the 27th.
No spends on toiletries AT ALL so very pleased! Good thing is I have a clear picture of what we need and what we don't need. I've never been into posh toiletries other than ones that are a little more eco friendly such as original source and naked and I still have a lot of them in.
I made my food bank donation early in the month but what I am going to start doing from next month is adding a few items onto a shop such as tinned veg and collecting them in a box and making a larger donation. There are three places in town now to drop off which i think is fantastic but it's also a bit of a sign of the times that so many people are struggling to feed their families :(

I think I am going to abide these rules most months, it's not too bad if you have planned for it, having a buffer for stuff you might need to get all of a sudden helps, although i still feel a bit guilty about the boots, and the fact i need new shoes as well... might sell the ones I can't wear anymore to fund....

  • Yay for Fridays!

I will be so glad when todays shift is over with, my project keeps getting changed, but not the deadline so at the moment it's redo redo redo rather than progress progress progress.

Just done the shopping which should last me the last two weeks of the challenge. Shopping, including the lightbulbs and oven cleaner came in under my guesstimate of £50, just. I was only going to buy two lightbulbs, because one had blown, but they didn't have the exact wattag I wanted, so had to buy four new ones to replace them all, but that's ok.

Got everything on my list and even left eggs off, because I still have some left, I just need to use them sooner rather than later. I was going round adding everything up, even weighed my potatoes and worked out the cost of them, until I must have pressed something twice because the total doubled.

As predicted, the fuel light came on on the way to work yesterday, got to the supermarket and filled up. That will last me a good four or five weeks so long as I have no unplanned trips.

Going to do some baking myself this weekend. Have to make some more of my muesli bars and with the eggs I've got, I'm thinking some sort of cakes, but it depends what I have in the baking cupboard.

NSK - You mentioned the other day the Tesco beans and meatfree sausages, have you tried the Sainsbos ones. I thought the Tesco ones were a little too herby, but you do get more sausages.

Agreed! They were very herby but there were lots of sausages. I only ever bought 1 tin from Tesco's and 1 from Morrisons for a "I'm back too late from wherever to cook properly" but might be tempted to try another brand....75p like the others?
