The October Awakening!

Haven't had a chance to post updates in a few days. DD had v high temp & was only sleeping for 15-20mins then waking up screaming. I've been feeling rotten on top of that, but it looks like she's getting better. Normal temp today phew!
Did the weekly shop yesterday but managed to forget a few things so sent my DM out on a mercy mission today for the stuff I'd missed so that's one less SFD that I was hoping for. Also our cat's all of a sudden got fussy & turns his nose up at one of the types of pouches we give him so had to buy his stuff a week earlier than planned.
Got some Christmas presents online yesterday but already got the money put by & got a voucher for tickets for Judo comp half price on Sat poor DS's been stuck in this week with us poorly people so I reckon between Sat & today we could easily have spent this money out entertaining!

Lunch 5/8
Food 199.03/280

Somewhat struggling & running out of chances for SFDs but we'll see how we get on! Only just over halfway through the challenge, food should last the week although will need milk, diluting juice & bananas later on & the freezer will be v bare after this week!

Everhopeful- check out the mag thread if you like mags https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1075149 lots of deals like 3 for £1 etc. I have made money on most of mine as you get freebies you can sell eg I took out a mag 3 for £3 plus free perfume which I sold on eBay for £15 after fees
Stoplurking- my posts keep saying that was well, not sure why?
Andrar- I know it's against the rules but personally I would go as it's important for you to meet people. Perhaps you could try and get the money back by eBay etc?
Thriftylass- they look lovely! Perhaps use the ones you are making as trials then make done more to sell. Are there any local craft fairs you could try?:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Hello All,
Hangs head in shame, no I didn't need my trashy mags, just wanted something to cheer me up (PMT hormones are no fun!) and better for £3 to be spent rather a lot more on clothes/shoes.
I'm not a saint and have days where I will slip up just like everyone else! I'm honest and will say what i bought. But since joining this challenge I am a lot more focused and disciplined and know exactly where I am with my finances plus confident about clearing my debts. I had cancelled a meal out on Monday and not going on a planned night out on Friday.
I know i don't need to justify myself, just feeling very sensitive and taking things to heart this week. Any other time tell it to me straight!

Hi!
Sorry I've not checked in for a few days... I've had mixed progress I suppose...Today = SFD number 9
 I spent £50 from my Emergency Fund on food going over budgetI have saved 50p per day
I cancelled an online fitness programme saving £65 p/m
I have been reading books on prosperity which are great
I have re-organised my budget and will now have an extra £250 p/m in total - to either a) pay off more debt (currently 0% interest) b) put into a pension scheme c) top up my Emergency Fund. This is on top of the £375 p/m I pay on debt already. Maybe a combination of all three...

Definitely not a SFD for me today!! £38 on a haircut, eeek (was budgeted). However I did tell the hairdresser to adapt my new style (which I love love love and is probably the most flattering style I've ever ha) so that I don't need to keep coming back every 6-8 weeks. Hoping I can drag it out to at least every 12 weeks and still resemble a decent human being as opposed to a sheepdog now...Novuna personal finance 0% 4-year £518/£1866Credit card debt free! thrifty I love the sock monkey! How clever of you!
everhopeful poor you, PMT is awfuldefinitely need something to cheer you up!
andrar I think you should go to the curry as I doubt it'll be a regular occurrence and like you say, you need to meet new people.
I've had a planned spend day - food shopping and posting items sold on eB4y. I think we may go over the food budget by £10/£20 this month but being as it was a guess at how much we needed them it's not too bad. Plus I have made up a harvest festival box out of this week's food money. I felt really annoyed that I couldn't have another SFD today! My mentality towards money must be changing!

Everhopful we are not having a go. Everyone will be pulled up on what they spend only cause we are interested ... PMT is awful.. I am having a super fat monht, really feeling rubbish. Went and spent £17.01 in Lidls on fruit and vegetables. I am depriving myself of the wrong things... Big hugs Everhopeful... x x x... oh and £0.99 on new tupperware tubs that I don't need..
Lillian stay with us for now.... we are struggling here and there.. just keep going and keep posting...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Evening all. Reporting in on a predicted spendy day.
I bought a rotary cutter, some tissues, and some food. I did go out for tea with my dad after work and offered to pay (it was my turn) but he paid so I was well chuffed with that!
When I was at the supermarket I was tempted by a trashy gossip mag but had a quick flick through and put it back. I have plenty of books to read so didn't need it (although I did want to buy it).
I was also due to pay teaboat money today but didn't get around to it so am going to try to leave it until next week so I can squeeze in another 2 SFDs this week.
My new totals are as follows:
Food - £74.11/£80
Misc - £195.92/£150:mad:
Petrol - £15.08/£50
Food bank - £2.56/£3
Car tax - £175/£175
Money made - £28/£100
Have a good Thursday everyone and will check in again tomorrow.0 -
Just a quick check in before I head off to bed.
Today is a NSD as I've not been near a shop.
Spent most of the afternoon trying to suss out why I can't get the computer to shut down and not got very far with it. Stresses me out.
I really fancied chocolate and crisps tonight but resisted the urge.
Can't remember the last time I drank enough water. I always find it harder to do in the colder weather.
Might try and get into drinking it again but not too thrilled with the idea.
I think I will be having a spending day tomorrow as the cat needs more food.
Have a good night's sleep everyone.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5
