  • Thanks Kat, our buyer seemed so solid we don't think he saw it coming let alone us. Trying to focus on what is good - fab kids, hubby, family and friends and a home that I do love even if we have outgrown it!! Thanks for the hugs - have needed a few of them over the last 24 hours!!

MrsGSR - Sounds like you needed a break from nappy/ pj washing and drying!

LAGL - So sorry to hear your news- how incredibly frustrating!! Keep your positive hat on- like you have highlighted there are a lot of good things to focus on! And as Kat has said Something better is around the corner!

Oh LAGL, what a nightmare! Remember the old saying "Things always work out in the end. If they don't, it's not the end"! Doesn't help much when you've been setback as much as you have recently, and the fact that it could have been worse doesn't help much either. Hugs to you and your family - hope you have a nice evening tonight in your current house :)

I managed to bag another few SFDs. In fact, I found £1 in a locker at yoga and found 55p in a parking meter (I was loitering 10 minutes before the free parking started and pretending I was looking for change to buy a ticket as there was a warden in the vicinity. Carried on pretending until he left and I parked for free :D). So, can I count this £1.55 towards my £100 for the month? I hope so as ebay's going nowhere so far! I think a massive clear out is on the cards and get rid of some stuff in 99p listings. I remember doing this around the same time last year and, although it's not a lot of money, it feels great de-cluttering. I've hardly spent a penny in the last year so it must be old stuff that survived my 2012 cull that's due to be ousted!

I still haven't donated my food bank goods - my local supermarket doesn't do a food bank donation trolley anymore so I'll have to look elsewhere. Last month I did the text thing, but I really liked what you said kat about the value of what can be bought for £3.

Working the night shift tonight so I can count today as another SFD :D In fact, I'm hoping not to spend again until the weekend - that'll see my total rise to 11...still hoping to make target, despite my extra spending at the beginning of the month :o
  • Hello everybody, hope you are all doing ok.
I don't think I did an update yesterday but it was a spendy day anyway.
Today has been a NSD so I'm at 9 now which is very good for me.
I've got about £30 left in my food budget to last until the end of October but only need the basics plus the cat food so it will be enough.
There's tons of stuff still in the freezer and pantry so will be using that.

Had a bit of good news today from the water suppliers.
I've been paying £32 every month and I'm £136 in credit. They've reviewed my usage and have reset it to £9.33 a month. I'm really pleased with that and will put that towards paying off my Co-op energy debt.
Had homemade lentil, veg and bacon soup today which was lovely and thick and just what I needed to warm me up. Cheap and filling.
I've just spent the last half hour catching up with what everyone is doing so I'm off to make a cuppa now.
    Have a cosy evening everyone.

LAGL Really sorry to hear this. Rubbish rubbish!

Finished my nights, finally. They've been challenging!

    My totals

SFDs- 12/20. Tomorrow and Thurs are planned spend days. More on this later.

Cash generating £95/£100. Yesterday we received a cheque from our friends at HMRC for £76 after I put in a form for his work related expenses he'd never claimed. So chuffed with that. I'm not sure if this counts towards our money making total though? NSK?. I have £25 still to arrive from pureprofile surveys plus I'll get 27.60 on Thurs from 2nd job. Also have a bid on an eBay item for £100.

Tomorrow we were meeting other divers who will be on the boat (Liveaboard) we're staying on next month for a weeks scuba holiday. We were meeting at the dive shop, paying for our course we're doing (budgeted) and then we were all going for a curry which was only a fiver a head and BYOB (for DH, I'll drive). However, he's text saying due to Eid the curryhouse is shut, so he's booked an Italian which is £12.50 set 2 course meal (and obv not BYOB). In the past I'd have not thought a thing of this. But now I think, no. I had a tenner budgeted for this and now I think realistically it'll be pushing £40. It'd be good to meet all the people and be social able but not at 4x the cost.

Going on from this, I am wondering what to do with our unexpected tax rebate. Whilst I know it ought to go towards debts, I also know we are struggling at the moment with clothing. DHs walking shoes & fave shoes have holes in/falling apart and his boxers are all old, scratty and have holes in. None of my clothes fit as I've dropped from a tight size 12 to a size 8. I can live with this, but I have no bikinis that fit now (lost 2 cup sizes & gone up a back size (I lift weights)) and a bikini is an essential for our diving hol. Saying that I've never considered clothes as "essentials". Milk, eggs, petrol are essentials. But I am wondering whether to use some or all of that money to get us some Primarni & GoOutdoors delights? Please give me your thoughts MSErs. Next month is super tight too- £150 for both of us having dental work, £240 for wetsuits, £210 for dive gear servicing, £100ish for my cars MOT and service plus some holiday spending money so can't "borrow" from there.

    Evening all

SFD number 10 :) Yay, half way there and almost exactly half way through the month :)

Took lunch to work, didn't eat out and have made pesto pasta for lunch for the next two days.

Spend day tomorrow as need to do the weekly shop, get petrol and post eB4y items plus other mail.

fyggy I would perhaps buy OH a pair of shoes and a bikini for you. Then put anything that's left into debt busting. You need to live as well as debt bust and holey shoes in winter are no good :( Plus if you're now a size 8, you should have a good bikini to show off :)
