Nope. It has to be earned and gained this month only. Sorry:( - I feel like a right weasel saying no but I don't want people getting too comfortable and missing oppurtunities right under their noses to make MORE money or get too comfortable and think the money already made cancels out bad habits in this month... Nope defo aim to make more money.
I am not counting my OT as "extra money" cause that is too easy and not fair on those who will never be able to get OT but I don't mind other counting theirs...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Good Morning all..
Am sat at work. Freezing. I think they put the heating off at the weekend and it takes the best part of 3 days to start being effective - by which time it's time to switch it off again..
I am tired but plan a big eBay photo shoot today after a nap. Gonna make a pile of "Keep, Charity Shop, Sell".. should keep me busy today...
Hmmm my drivers license picture has expired as well so I need to send that off.
Hunt down a Snappy Snaps and get Australian size passport photos..(that can wait)....
Other than that I am leading a rather dull existance but am about to embrace a minimalistic lifestyle... watch this space...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Morning everyone,
caffeine free/milk free day 8! headache went about day 4, phew!!
Hoping for a sfd today need milk but as im not drinking it and dd barely has it then im hoping dh forgets to get itour budgets are together so I can't send him out and still get a sfd!
Even though I'm on maternity leave now, I can't get overtime or if i did i wouldn't be paid for it, so I'm Eb4ying. Listed 8 items yesterday, nothing expensive though, would get about £25 if they sold for opening bid, still all helps though and I'll plod on through the pile this week.
For some reason i cant log on to my t3sc0 cc, they wanted me to change my password details so i did, and now i cant log on, actually think i best check it out now, sounds dodgy :-/
eta; all ok with the cc!! my mistake :rotfl:Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Anyone good at sewing. My Dad bought me a vintage sewing machine years ago that I brought to London and haven't learnt to use. My Mum suggest YouTube vids... any book recommendations... although I think a one-to-one would be best for the start....Yes? No?“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Bit p****d off. My £5 cashback from mysupermarket and Sainburys hasn't tracked and now have to do a claim. Wonder if sth went wrong as the Sainsburys site was a bit dosgy that day and after going through TCB, mysupermarket and the sainsburys I wonder if I lost the direct connection.
Today should be another SFD 8/20 (or 2/7 in a row).DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

I sew, it runs in my family so I've always benefited from one-to-one teaching on tap from DM/DGM. I would say if you have no experience get a one-to-one so that you get some advice specific for your machine; machines are generally quite similar, but with subtle differences that could make a standard you-tube video confusing if you don't know your machine yet.
Once you're familiar with it, you-tube and sewing communities/forums will have plenty of information to help you. Burdastyle is a good one for step by step tutorials for techniques and stuff (free) and of course there's loads of sewists blogs to get into! A whole new world to get involved with Kat!
Not much to report here. I've been having too many spendy days, but none of them very expensive, so it's not so bad. SFDs yesterday and today though.Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -
Thrifty
I am only making small gifts this year as my DFD isn't until the end of November, and I really do not want to splurge on presents 3 weeks into my (hopefully) first debt free month. The only person I am buying for is my nephew- he *must* own the Lion King!
Last year I made necklaces for my female Besties and family members. I just purchased plain snake chains and small jump hoops from ebay, and embellishments for these. Each necklace had a swarovski heart crystal, a small enamelled christmas tree charm and a little bell- the colour used was according to the individual's favourite colour. I then made little jewellery boxes for these out of little matchstick boxes, which I decorated with Christmas themed paper, ribbons and Christmas embellishments. They were all received so well. I loved making them! They cost me under £3 each to make!!
I was going to make cufflinks for the men, either using scrabble pieces or the thin square lego pieces but run out of time. So bought these for £2-£3 each and embellished matchstick boxes for them to go into.
This year I am making snowman soup cones- http://www.essentialpackagingstore.com/projects/snowmansoup.php
These are at the bottom of the above link
I am doing a slight twist with these and decorating the marshmallows with edible food pens to make lil snowman faces. I will be replacing the candy cane with Snowman chocolate lollies to stir the hot chocolate with (th0rntons are doing some lovely snowman lollies this year) and embellishing the besties/female relatives one's with rhinestone heart charms to put on their necklaces from last year.
I will be making children's one's with banana milkshake powder 'monkey soup', banana sweets (instead of marshmallows) and a chocolate monkey lolly to stir with.
For the men I will be making 'pots of gold' - lil gold pots filled with gold covered sweets and chocolates and a christmas scratchcard. I can't remember where the link is to these, but they also come with a little poem.
For a couple of friends I am also making 'Wordle' word cloud pictures to go into photo frames which I will decoupage.
You can make free wordle word clouds here:
http://www.wordle.net/
They look great and can be really personalised.
I have been collecting little bits and pieces for my Nan's lil hamper throughout the year of things that she uses regularly- she isn't a fan of hot chocolate, milkshakes or chocolate
MSE had a really good link to some great gift ideas for under £5. I love the reindeer bell in the backgarden idea for littlies!
The link is here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/festive-fivers
I will definitely be making the 'Alice in Wonderland Treats' gifts for a couple of friend's Birthdays in the New Year, but will adapt them with a couple of my own ideas.
Anywho, hope that helps. The MSE link has loads of great ideas! :T:coffee:

Thank you for this KarmaChi......My great-grandmother was a milner and my Grandmother was a seamstress. That's on my Dads side from Belfast hence he bought the machine for me (it's sooo beautiful)... on my Mum's side her youngest sister taught herself and her other sister also.. they both used to send me stuff from Australia when I was a kid and obsessed with Grease style Ra-Ra skirts that you couldn't find in 1980's Northern Ireland... the materials are so much more diverse when you make your own stuff...I particularily loved hideous floral numbers!:rotfl:
I feel I am letting the side down, missing a massive oppurtunity to reproduce vintage items that can be SUPER expensive now and my Dad keeps harping on at me to make and sell my own clothes ( not really my aim ) but it's a massively useful skill to have ( presents, curtains, alterations, embellishments, etc etc)..
Anyway you are right - my machine is old and I don't know how to use it but it has the over-lock mechanism which I believe is rare on cheaper modern machines - is that right? That it makes a machine more expensive..? I could be talking rubbish... I'm gonna send you a picture and see what you think...
One-to-One's offered in a wee crafting store near me although another one a little further out (female runs her own business) will come to my house - which sounds better to me... £35 an hour, minimum two hours... Need to eBay more tat I think! :rotfl:
I am quite excited now. KarmaChi - care to inbox me a list of essentials... I saw a list in a few books but I don't think I need a pattern-cutter just yet.. what are the things you find indespensible and tell me what you make..? :T:T:T“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
