LSD I always eat my bread from frozen, I don't see the point in wasting money on smaller loaves so buy big ones and freeze them until needed. I don't really notice a difference in how soft they are.

SFD today as work paid for lunch whilst I was out and about. I'm bringing the multicoloured envelopes back for big bad November!

    Hello hello OAers!

Tonight is my fourth and final night duty and then I'm off for 10 days, 8 of which will be spent floating around on a luxury boat in the Red Sea, diving :) Cannot wait! This is our last hol for a couple of years so we're really going to enjoy it!

SFDs- 19/20. So close! Tomorrow morning is the dreaded MOT and service. Wee car will be dropped in on my way home work and then I'll sleep at my Mums (she lives in same town as garage and my work) whilst it's being done. Then she can drop me at the garage when it's done. Fingers crossed it's not horrific. £100 budgeted.

DH's payday and this is a perk of being on nights, I can log in at midnight-ish and allocate the money to their accounts.

  • Another SFD for me today! Hoping to get one more tomorrow which will bring my total to 15 over the month :) Not quite a total success, but I'm happy with that! Can't do NOvember though sadly - have already committed to two outings (and budgeted for them) over the month. Good luck to everyone though!! I will be cheering you on. And maybe seeing how close I can get to 25 SFDs myself...

Hey NSK... I have a question.

I worked an extra shift which gave me my extra £100 for this month. However, due to a misunderstanding and some daftness, I will not get paid for it this month.
Does it still count as my £100 for this month??
    :(

    Savings: £0/£6400

Nothing too exciting! I put all money into multicoloured envelopes, get creative with little pictures on them etc and live by the envelopes! I didn't do it this month and well, as you can see it hasn't worked in my favour. Having the money in front of me makes me realise how little I have and that it needs to be spent efficiently!

  • Morning All!!!

Okay first things first - regarding the SFD's... if it were up to me ( although it technically is although I might end up playing on my own ) any sort of spend would be a spend day no matter what it was.. petrol, food, medications or child's play etc... However... I have to be sensible. I never know who is taking things to the letter and following rules to the exactness and I can't risk putting someone in danger in general (not getting meds as they are on an SFD).. or their property (car running fumes because it's an SFD)... not paying their dues ( child's activities because it's an SFD)..

Now I know everyone here is sensible and can think for themselves. But I personally don't want to think someone runs out of petrol on the motorway becuase they "thought they could make it" and didn't tank up. Medications speak for themselves - they are essentials!

I said on the first challenge back in 2012 and should have reiterated it then that this is not a chance to mooch off other people - if you are in this challenge you are doing it for yourself not at the expence of someone else. So the person running the after school activities or swimming lessons etc asks to be paid per session - then do it. I am allowing you a loop hole to accomodate another person's request. You have a set budget for the odd car run but don't want to use all the money in one hit and possibly have a little left over - then so be it - tank up over three days instead of one big full tank just in case those pennies can be used elsewhere and you don't need to drive as much as you thought..

The ones I CAN influence and the non-essentials that rack up the majority of people debts which the areas that most people spend WAY too much money and the ones that drag us down down down.... includes food, coffee from expensive cafes, beauty products that you don't need, clothing that should not have been bought, alcohol that is ruining your health AND you bank balance, off the cuff splurges to "make me feel better"....

Does that make sense?? I probably should have explained this earlier and I thank you Clippy_Girl for bringing this up... I just want to instill a different way of looking at things... food items creep in when you least expect it, pizzas from corner strores etc.. and these are the items that slowly add up - how many of us have gone in to get milk and come out £10 lighter because you want something....

I just want to rid you of the want and encourage a desire for only the needs!

    ***cause I love you guys***

  • A few other things... Stewby yes honey thats your £100 for the month well done! I have "missed" check in with overtime forms a few times and infuriated myself... but yes you have hit your target! Whoop!

The envelope system is AMAZING. Although I have two wallets instead!..;- ) I shall encourage you all to rummage for stickers to make things pretty AND if you so wish to post pictures on facebook or on the thread... oooooooh might tell the NOvemberites about this too.....hang on a second I will be back...
