I love the envelope/purse idea. I have several old purses that I haven't thrown away yet so will use these :)

I have tried to implement this before but never very successfully as I wasn't being strict with myself and didn't have all of you for support, and to keep an eye on me!

    Hello!

I have a quick question about next months challenge.

I have got a three outings in the diary for next month, however for me two of these will be no spends as one is a wedding (free bar and gift already given) and the second is a visit to catch up with friends round their house and hubby said he will buy her a bottle of wine. Is it still ok to go to them? Sorry if it seems a stupid thing to ask!!!
    October make £10/day currently £11.02
  • Nope thats fine Avogirly.. maybe I should have added that if it was a spending day out you can't go... (like the Mum I seem to be acting like at the moment.. although I am not trying to be patronising...)...

    Morning,

Quick question; I signed up to Sw4gbucks earlier in the year and have been trying to earn as many points as possible these last few weeks. I cannot decide whether to exchange my points for money into my paypal account and then use it towards my ccard debt, or exchange the points for vouchers at somewhere like M&S where I occasionally shop as the exchange rate is better?

Also does anyone know if paypal would charge you?

Not sure if paypal will charge you. I use a survey site where I can either get paid into my bank account (BACS) or use Amazon for instance. I always opt for Amazon vouchers as I get 15% free on top of it and the vouchers are valid for years. Although I don't have any debt I would always opt for the one you benefit more from. I.e. do you get more % wise than the CC costs you in interest. Would the voucher prevent you from using the CC in the near future?

    Thank you!

Yeah the vouchers work out better value than converting it to cash through Paypal (you get more vouchers than you would cash). Unfortunately, there is no option to get it paid into my bank account directly.

Fingers crossed, I don't ever intend to use my ccard again (except for large purchases where it gives you added protection) but it is 0% until June 2014 so anything I pay off would go straight towards the balance and not the interest.

Hmm I think I need to know whether paypal charge for this as don't want to lose my hard earned money

Just got to my 20th NSD and very chuffed.
Today and tomorrow is going to be used to plan for the November challeng.
Plan Plan and more plan is the obvious way forward.
I've got some cash bags from the bank and will use them to split the money for the month.
I hope you don't mind me asking but do you have savings if you still have debt?
Do you just keep enough for emergencies and then use any surplus to pay towards your debts?
I've got about £750 savings and not sure whether to leave that where it is and use any money left over to pay towards my debts.
Thanks and good luck getting to the end of October.

I'm on SFD 19 today and should have another one tomorrow to make 20. I hope I can put off going shopping till Saturday.
I won't do the envelope system in November but I have different online accounts for groceries and HH, christmas and MOT/car. So more virtual envelopes.

I'm slightly afraid of November now but I'll try my hardest. Got just in under the food budget this month, went over HH and extras and did well on the lunch, SFD and exercise front. But next month the budget will be cut drastically (will publish my plan on Friday over in the Nov thread)

    Hello my lovelies!

I'm pleased to report that my motor passed its MoT. Well not first time- needed the headlights adjust which they wanted to charge me £12 to do. I sweet talked him into doing it for free. The MoT was free too as I used a voucher they sent- free if you buy a service. Suited me as it was well overdue one. Budgeted £100, costing £79.99. As expected my radiator has a small hole in it and my brakes plus the discs need replacing. Both will have to wait until end of Nov though as they're estimating £450-500. Ouch.

Picked up some, what I hope will be final bits in the supermarket this am- sun cream, SPF lip balm plus a card for my nephew bday and 2 pints of milk to freeze for when were back. Need to draw out some cash- to pay for a few things - coach to the airport and to pay for a few things on board the boat.

So still on SFD no 19. But through planning today I will make tomo my 20th.
