Good luck SandA I really do wish you good luck always remember if it does appear discretionary and I work woth decisions on DBS all the time and in not a single case would your offence affected your application so don't worry just avoid if asked directly denying it if you are not asked no porblem and take the DBS step at that time
Good Luck everyone deserves to leave their past and I am convinced in your case it was a long time agao and a one off0 -
I've still got all my HMRC job app stuff on my PC and just came across this:-
As I said, getting a birth certificate is definitely worth doing, ALL employers should be checking 'right to work' and without a valid UK passport a birth certificate is the next best thing!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I find it alarming anyone can live in this country without a passport or birth certificate.
My passport is out of date, was at my parents house who are away so I was unable to get hold of it. Birth certificate is not something I have personally had, but I have had ordered a new one today.0 -

Hi,
I have seen your post. However as well as the basic security check, the vacancy also states I need to do a standard DBS check which I believe does include any cautions, reprimands etc. Although I may be wrong?
See:
https://www.gov.uk/dbs-check-requests-guidance-for-employersFrom 29 May 2013, the DBS will remove certain specified old and minor offences from criminal record certificates issued from this date. Changes to the legislation were introduced to allow us to do this.
In line with these changes, we have amended question e55 on our DBS application form guidance for a criminal record check.
Question e55 asks the applicant ‘have you ever been convicted of a criminal offence or received a caution, reprimand or warning?’
Applicants should now ignore this question and treat this question as if they were being asked ‘do you have any unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings?’
For more information about the filtering process please see the guidance documents.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
