£175 a year for a Land Rover Freelander II. Not too bad for a big vehicle.

I have to agree. This is pennies against the cost of fuel,how well the car is driven and how many miles it does a year. I drive a Scenic 1.6 Petrol, its over £200 a year to tax, but then Id spent over £200 a month on fuel, so tax is the least of my worries. I could get a car with better MPG and tax, but id have to pay more for the car, or the car would de-value by more than that a year anyway.
