It was payday yesterday, so my food spend total for 25/9-24/10 is £332. Which was £118 under my budget of £450. :j That was for 2 adults and 4 children age 8 and under.

Can't quite believe it (and possibly have got numbers wrong somewhere!) but I did make a few changes this month:
    1) cancelled the fruit and veg box, swapped to buying a few organic bits from the supermarket instead (using the clean 15/dirty dozen lists).
    2) menu planned and only bought what we needed for those exact dinners, rather than just stock up on everything I'm running low of in the pantry.
    3) tried a few budget recipes from A girl called Jack, including more vegetarian ones than we would normally eat, so def. spent less on meat this month.

    V chuffed :)

WELL DONE - that's fantastic ! Must feel great after such an achievement.

iammumtoone- feeback on the Aldi teabags: they are lovely! I wont say that i cant tell the difference, as i can, but they are definitely nice and i am happy to swap to them instead of twinings. They are half the price (or less) and are the ones in the gold/caramel coloured packet.

I will only be buying twinings if i see them on offer somewhere, but for now i'll stick to Aldi ones :)

I'm still on Twining's as bought loads when half-price. Mind you it shows how mean I am as I make 3 cuppas from 2 bags :rotfl:
but will try Al*i gold when I run out. Thanks for feed-back

    Good morning,

I'm also doing this challenge to the 31st midnight of this month.

saving4life - Been meaning to say thanks about mentioning Netmums regarding recipe ideas.

My grocery spends are still consistent; basic "essentials" or with winter in mind. Also consistent is my lack of interest in visiting superstores and when I do, disinterested in what is available. So just a couple of days left to see if I will stay under £65!

Well October was my first month doing this challenge and I have collected up all of the receipts. It is fair to say that the total of all receipts has greatly surprised me as it adds up to £370 for 5 weeks. My grocery bill has to feed 2 adults, a baby, a 2 year old and a 10 year as well as a hamster, cat and 2 chickens. The grocery bill includes nappies for the 2 little ones.

  • A couple of spends yesterday, I was at work so popped into the shop to get pastries for the lucky people working on a Saturday, a naughty spend of £4.40 but was much appreciated!

Went to Mr T on my way home, had to return some clothing so picked up a few bits while I was there. Spent £5.51, would have been more but used a price match coupon and had a coupon for £2 off a Chicago Town pizza that I found on the voucher board. The pizza was on offer at £2 so free pizza! Had for dinner last night and it was very yummy :)

I won't be shopping before my month ends (will end on Tuesday 29th), so can say I have ended exactly £1 under budget!!! Very pleased!!

    Afternoon all,

Have had a really crazy month and have completely burst the budget, so am declaring at €325 for October.

Not sure if I will join for november as I dont seem in control of my spending at the moment.

    Good luck everybody
