October 2013 Grocery Challenge

Well, I'm officially giving up for October as I'm well over budget with still another week to go, but it has been an incredibly hectic month so am not going to dwell on it and just start fresh for November. The month started off absolutely terrible, with my Mum in hospital and then me in hospital (totally unrelated things!) and then working lots of dodgy hours, but has ended on a high as I've got myself not 1, but 2 new part time jobs, meaning I now have 3 jobs!!! :T Will be a massive adjustment as I haven't worked full time for over 6 years, but with all that glorious money, hopefully I will be able to become debt free so much faster and without it hurting so much! :j
I would have counted next week as part of my October challenge, but I'm going to start November on Monday so that my mind doesn't think 'well we're over budget anyway so lets keep on spending!':rotfl:
Have a good weekend everyone, and I will see you all over on the November thread:ADFW Nerd 145

Spent £3.15 today on papers and a pumpkin ready for Hallowe'en.
Had some good luck today. I take part in some surveys to earn a few vouchers and one of them asked me to take part in trialling some washing capsules. So I've just had 2 packs of Bold 2 in 1 pods delivered. Enough for 38 washes! Should last us a while. :T0 -

iammumtoone- feeback on the Aldi teabags: they are lovely! I wont say that i cant tell the difference, as i can, but they are definitely nice and i am happy to swap to them instead of twinings. They are half the price (or less) and are the ones in the gold/caramel coloured packet.
I will only be buying twinings if i see them on offer somewhere, but for now i'll stick to Aldi ones0 -
I am still on October until 1st Nov
I am just updating my spends. £11.23 in Tesco this afternoon as myself and my 9 year old stocked up on some baking things (flour, sugar, eggs, choc chips, stork etc).
We are having a baking afternoon and are making:
Choc Choc cookies
Choc Orange muffins
Sausage rolls
Pizza wheels
Sponge cake with choc buttercream filling
nigellas choc christmas biscuits
That should see us all through the week!0 -
So we decided not to go to the market as we have done a fridge-rekki and we only need carrots, it's not worth the petrol and carparking fee.
We're doing a tesco shop still though but need (relatively) little in as we stocked up really well last week. Will post up how that went laterApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

£7.13 on some fruit this morning, so have cabbage, peas and carrots in so didn't bother with veg today.
The meal grandson cooked was beautiful and he really enjoyed doing most of it himself. Unfortunately couldn't get camera to work so no photos, a friend has it over the weekend and he says he will take a look so fingers crossed.
Hope no one is badly affected by the strong winds that are predicted.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

Since changing from a monthly budget to a weekly one I've felt more in control. It's not far to the end of the week whereas it was always a long way to the end of the month.
Just off to do my meal plan for next week - I shop on a Monday - and look on mysupermarket to see if there are any 'savvy' buys worth having.0 -
NSD here.
We had HM BPITH + roast potatoes + carrots, leek, swede, garlic + gravy for dinner. Lovely to have some HM food in the freezer to use while I catch up with washing, ironing and housework after being away for a week.
