Anyone know where you can get sosom*x. Used to buy it for my son who was a fussy veggie and make meatballs in tom sauce. This reminded me and I fancy making some as really tasty and filling.
Welcome jttou. Know you will find this thread really inspiring and the people very helpful.
Another NSD today and have up-dated signature.
Could anyone explain the advantages of on-line SM shopping and delivery as I have steered clear so far - liking to pick up YS, special offers, latest dates poss and bargain (?) lines ??
L.
My meal went down like a lead balloon, and i think i have poisoned DD1 who has a really sensitive stomach, as i made it a bit too spicy and she has had to stay off school.
Would Holland and Barret sell it? I might look in there as i am passing one on Thursday ... see what other veggie bits they have also. What meals did you give your son? Might inspire me as DD2 only likes a few things, so her meals are quite monotonous.
Online shopping suits me better as i like the fact that i don't have to physically go instore and lug heavy stuff home (maybe different if you have transport); and you are less tempted to get stuff you don't need. However, it's still easy to put unnescessaries in your basket online. I've always done it online, as i could never rely on ex husband to take me shopping when needed; and it was also better when he was away,as i knew i had that safety net.
No NSD for me, as DD1 needs mozzarella for pizza tartlets for tomorrow's Food Tech lesson (providing she is well enough to go into school). If not then i will have to use it on normal pizza. Luckily i have the rest of the ingredients in. I also need fly spray, as seem to have several midges flying about, more than the norm. Finally, garlic bread and cheapy kitchen towel needed too.

lynnejk - I often shop online mainly because I haven't got a car or really big supermarket near me. But online shopping can help you spend less (as I go back through and delete non-essentials stuff when I see the total getting high, and it's a bit less pressured than getting to the till and realising you've bought too much!).
It also prevents impulse buys/browsing, which was great at the start of the GC. I have to say I don't find it hard to stick to my list and never buy stuff on impulse anymore though so that advantage has kind of gone.
Third advantage is that it does save me time on a Sunday when I get my shop, which I love. It's not for everyone though and I do switch between loving it and preferring to go in person!
Mealplan for the week:
Sun 6 – dinner at friends’ flat
Mon 7 - baked salmon with sweetcorn, roasted sweet potato and salad
Tues 8 - cottage pie with broccoli
Wed 9 – tomato & roasted veg pasta with salad
Thurs 10 - bean and cheese burritos with salad
Fri 11 – away
Sat 12 – possibly away, or else chicken and ham egg-fried rice
Total spends in Oct to date: £79.78 / £170. Looking reasonably good as there's only two more weekends to go! Plenty of food in now, loads of fish in the freezer as got some YS salmon, diced cod and smoked haddock in there. Am going to make fish pie next week with the haddock and cod pieces but OH won't eat this so it'll make a couple of meals for mePart time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

I am on target this week with my October spending :A. It's helping that I am eating more stuff out the freezer and cupboards then I am putting in, at the mo.
Also, hubby is coming around to the idea of budgets. He is less impulsive which helps me a lot.
We had a long chat about how we would spend my weekly grocery budget and we are going to try better quality food but buy less of it. e.g I buy 8 rashers of bacon at £8.50/kg in SM but it was very watery when we cooked it. A nearby farm shop sells bacon for £13.99/kg but when we cook it, it retains it's shape, colour etc and it tastes sooo much better. Hubby is happy to buy only 4 rashers each week. It would also help our waistline. I am not buying any snacks which will help keep us within budget and our meal portions are going to be smaller.
Thanks everyone for a supportive forum.'If you are not in the 'arena' also getting your a55 kicked then, I'm not interested in your feedback.' Thank you.0 -

Emailed Mr A last night with my complaint about the shopping so we'll see what they say! A couple of the substitutes I got were more expensive than I originally ordered so I saved there, though they didn't have the cheese I wanted and didn't send any alternative ( surely they had SOME other cheese available?! )
Made my mammoth batch of soup yesterday, DH did question just how many people I was planning on feeding with it all :rotfl:so tonight we're having soup with dumplings. The rest is being portioned up and put in the freezer. Got about 15 portions which works out about 40p per portion, cheaper and nicer than tinned soup!New House... New Mortgage!
