Oh no I forgot to warn people! Don't buy the mushrooms in this weeks super 6. It's 69p for 250g, but if you go for the normal mushrooms, you get 350g for 79p.
But the SS ones are Chestnut Mushrooms.

  • I have simply come to the conclusion that I love buying food and hoarding it. There's something comforting about a full fridge , freezer and cupboards and also I can justify spending money on food whereas buying new shoes etc, well that's a different matter ;)
I'm on a diet as of today (again :( ! ) so I've stocked up on plenty of SW goodies and lots of fresh fruit and veg in a bid to attempt to feel healthier with the added bonus I might lose some weight. I'm diabetic and I've not exactly been a good girl lately so I need to behave myself. I did the usual shop at Aldi, homebargains then pound world, luckily for me all on the same site then finally off to Sainsburys for what I couldn't get anywhere else. I think I spent about £66 altogether but will update sig with exact figure shortly. Made a loaf of bread and a lovely steak & ale stew and as a quick pud for the others I whizzed up some angel delight that had been hibernating in the cupboard. I had strawberries in a meringue nest with yoghurt for my pud. Blooming lovely. Tomorrow hopefully will be a NSD X

    HTH:)

Hey, thanks a million - that would be great ! Funny when you start fancying something you can't get it out of your mind :rotfl:
doing carrot and sweet potato soup tonight

Sounds delicious. Does it freeze okay as only make soup in mega-batches and always worry abut freezing potato things.
Hopefully that's it until th weekend; except for fizzy water which is essential for me, as just can't drink tap water. .

I drink gallons of fizzy water - cheapest I have found is 4x1 litre Soda at Mr T for £ 1.40 - goes flat if I buy bigger bottles. Do you know a cheaper source ??

Had to get milk today at Mr L - £ 1.00 for 2.272 litres. Tried the powdered but not so good in tea unfortunately :( Have updated my totals.

Would Holland and Barret sell it? I might look in there as i am passing one on Thursday ... see what other veggie bits they have also. What meals did you give your son? Might inspire me as DD2 only likes a few things, so her meals are quite monotonous. QUOTE]

I normally get smart price or savers water which is 18p and 17p. Mr T is 24p at the mo, which makes a difference when you are going through a bottle and a bit a day. The girls like it with juice.

That's okay, I still don't know how to double quote.

DD basically eats mostly processed Quorn stuff but she was the same when she was eating meat.
Here is basically what she eats:
Tuna and pasta (she also has Tuna on sandwiches for school. I normally stock up at Ald* but I have currently ran out)
(Red) Pesto and pasta (at a push)
    Arriabatta with Quorn meatballs
    Beans on toast
Quorn chicken nuggets, kievs, fillets (for roast dinner) burgers, southern fried bites.
Veggie sausages/ sausage rolls, LMc mozarella burgers.
    HM pizza
    Limited fruit and veg

That's basically it. She doesn't like jacket potato, eggs, cheese (unless on pizza), pie, fish other than tuna, and most casserole based meals.

It does my head in ALOT!!!

Morning all, sorry for suddemly going so quiet... Mr Shortie was away last week so I was juggling school runs, work, the MiL coming over to say and help, school birthday parties at the weekend and working late. I'm pooped..

I did our weekly shop on Sunday and went again to Mr T's to get lunch for the rest of my week at work (only soups to be fair) and to get one of those reduced price airers, to find they've stopped the offer :(

Still, not a wasted journey as I got my soups, some reduced bread and ham for the freezer, and some corned beef and goats milk for my old pud who has recently lost A LOT of weight (he went to the vets yesterday so we are investigating why)

We seem to be doing okay this month. Not sure how I feel about that as I did add in an extra £50 so we should be doing fab instead but if I look at it truthfully we have had loads and loads more fruit and veg this month (which was the point of the extra money being added) plus I've started to buying in bits for my lunch and breakfasts at work too as we've not really been havibg left overs as I've been shopping so carefully and we're not cooking massive portions anymore (both trying to shed a few excess pounds).

So in all actually, we've done okay! Sorry for the waffle-a-thon.. Sig already updated xx

Tenth Anniversary 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
Done my weekly shop yesterday came to £29.50 which isn't bad considering £10 of that was a bottle of gin (to make sloe gin). I also got a celeriac which I like but never very adventurous with it (just boil and mash it), does anyone have any recipes that include it?
