Pigpen. The female student was absolutely lovely and did really well. The male student poor soul forgot what he should be asking. Nerves I think but I was being difficult.

Yes, thanks from me too for the shoe story, Jo. Just lovely and sounds very fitting.
CY I hope surgery went well.
Been at paid stuff, collected DS, fed him, collected DD, took them to his swimming lesson (DD practicing writing in one of her brothers books - am I allowed to say she has more aptitude for it than he does, despite him being older?), then home for supper, bath for DD and bed. Phew. Hectic day. But I did have a quiet few minutes at 10.30.
Conservatory roof coming along nicely. 3 sides tiled. 4th to do plus ridge tiles, edging, soffits, facias and guttering, then its just the interior to crack on with! They said they might finish the external stuff tomorrow :T and the plasterer will be coming on Thursday. Hurrah!
Very little else done today - although I have put a wash on - cant dry stuff outside at the mo so its all spread around indoors.
Still. I'll get my garden back soon. In time for the rain, no doubtBossymoo

Nothing done today.
I had a read about toots shoes, so lovely and surprising what people remember :A.
Spoke to my neuro consultant he wants to change my tablets first instead of giving me a lumbar puncture whoop very please.
Okay I am off to do dishes, we had a takeaway for tea so not many to do... and baby bottles to sterilise and I might hoover too, I have only skim read the thread so will make a cuppa and have a proper read after the bottles are sorted.
ETA.... unreal what people expect as wedding presents my OH wants to get married but I`m not so keen, he thinks he needs to compete with his cousin and have a lavish wedding and I am more of a registry office and a BBQ or pub lunch somewhere common as muck I am lol. If anyone was so kind as to offer to get us a gift I would opt for childcare so OH and I could have a night or two away together on our own.0 -
Today I've done some washing, cleaned the kitchen, hoovered the ground floor, stairs and landing, been to work.
Just been up in the loft to see if I've got some paint cos I've decided to start painting my bedroom which is the only room I haven't done since i moved in 6 years ago. Only got white for the ceiling so that's a trip out tomorrow! Need to replace the carpet after the cats ruined it so I'll go for carpet tiles so they're easier to replace next time. Ooh the bake-off's on excuse me!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Jo - what a lovely story about Toots. Thank you for sharing. She will be much missed.
This morning, after the dailies, I gave the dining room a good dust and vac. I'm embarrassed to admit that that was all, flying-wise. I spent the rest of the morning doing last minute preparations for a committee meeting this afternoon - in the dining room which is why I had to clean it today!
I read the wedding pressie stories with amazement. How can people be so thoughtIess? And asking for a minimum of £100 -words fail me!
I'm going to have a relaxing evening as I need to conserve my energy for gs tomorrow. That cupboard under the sink is on my conscience though, so I'm going to have to get that done tomorrow.0 -
Jo thank you for the pink shoes story, made me shed a few tears for Toots and for my EX FiL.
DD1 saved money out of her saturday job at 6th form and bought her Grandad the most expensive pair of slippers in her store so they would last. He would take either an 8 or 9, but the smallest her store did was a 9.
As he was rapidly loosing weight (without a diagnosis ggrrrr) he couldn't keep them on and was frightened he was going to trip and fall, so he wrapped them back up and put them in the wardrobe. DD1 thought he didn't like them.
When he knew his time was nearly up and dictated his list of do's and don'ts he said he wanted to be buried in the slippers she bought him.
DD1 went up and sat on his bed and he said "I am sorry I couldn't wear your slippers, but they won't be wasted, I want to wear them forever" and they had a gentle hug.
When we saw him all dressed in his best suit, hair done, left lifted the blanket he was wearing his slippers.....it was incredibly sad, warm and funny at the same time, it was so like him to snub convention even to the last.
Hopefully the sparkly pink shoes will give Toots family a little smile when they think back on her final journeyThe cold never bothered me anyway0 -
