chanie, I'm sure your skincare routine will do your skin every bit as much good as that exorbitant one the were trying to talk you into. Sounds as if it's paying off already both on the £s and the compliments!

Thanks for the advice evilsquid. I've got a tub of intensive conditioner with possibly 1/2 treatments left. then I'll definitely be looking at using a hair mask instead. Which brands do you use?

getting in the shower and washed my hair then put conditioner on and combed it through plus cleansed face.
    • got out and cursory dry and put bathrobe on and showercap to stop hair dripping.
    • put face mask on and rested for 15-20 mins.
    • took off face mask
    • got back in the shower to rinse hair and use shower gel.
    • came out of shower and did all moisturising (face and body).
    • cleaned the bathroom while moisturiser soaked in
    • got dressed
    • blow dried hair.
    Is there an easier way?:rotfl:

I really couldn't be doing with getting in and out of the shower. I put the face mask on ten to fifteen minutes before getting in the shower and meanwhile might take off nail polish, cut or file nails or generally potter about whilst that gets to work.

Then into the shower rinse off face mask, wash hair and slather on the conditioner or other hair treatment, comb through and leave that to work whilst I do the rest of the ablutions / scrub / defuzz as necessary and then last of all rinse the conditioner out of my hair.

Exactly kiwi, I found it a big faff too!:rotfl:It was just that I wanted to leave the deep conditioner on for far longer than my usual one. I'm going to give the advance hair mask a go soon.

    Hi Everyone

Maman - I tend to multi-task when doing my treatments, so I will do my defuzzing whilst my face mask is on, or I might slap on a face mask and then go and make the beds or straighten the kitchen. Daft I know but it works for me. The bath or shower is usually the last bit, followed by a good slathering.....

Not much news here, have been busy organising workmen on DS1's house, designing room layouts etc for DS2 house, made a big door curtain for DS1's house, did the "bubble-wrap double glazing" for the bungalow, went clothes shopping for mum, have started re-organising my banking and savings accounts and have made my first foray into matched betting.

Phew - a busy week and next week is hectic too.

I did manage a bit of exercise and a couple of walks. Eating and sleeping well so am feeling quite good at the moment. Went to physio so the frozen shoulder is a bit easier.

    Getting there.

Oh and I started my Christmas cards tonight.:rotfl:

Thanks for the recommendations evilsquid, I'll take a look when I'm next browsing shops.

That's not daft at all LL. I always clean the bathroom while all the moisturisers do their task. I find when it's all steamy it's easier to wipe the surfaces down.

Get you, starting matched betting. I remember you asking pod about how it worked.

I've done a tiny bit of Christmas shopping. We don't buy much as agreed with DDs a few years ago only to buy for the children and they usually produce a list so that'll be easy. I buy some token gifts for a few friends and I got those while I saw some good ideas.

Both our DDs have birthdays before Christmas. Youngest we usually take out for lunch and treat her to clothes/boots etc. Eldest asks for some odd things: two years ago it was a fireplace! She'd just moved into her house (Victorian railway cottage) and wanted to reinstate some features. So we got a Victorian fireplace, slate hearth and DH made her a fire surround to fit, copy of a Victorian one. Last year she said 'no stuff' so we got a full set of tyres for her car!

Now you've reminded me about cards I need to look and check how many I need. I am getting a bit resentful about cards. They're good value, especially in CS but the price of stamps!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience at hair salon LL. I've stuck with the same (albeit expensive) hairdresser for years and I'm delighted with the way he cuts it. I've even booked my appointment for next month plus highlights. I always seem to leave it about 2 weeks too long before making an appointment and go through a 'rats' tails' stage.

Done a bit of home fabbing today. I cleared out 3 kitchen cupboards: threw out a lot of tat from the cleaning stuff under the sink and cupboard with plastic containers for the freezer. Then I did the cupboard with all the serving dishes/casseroles/ bowls etc. Stuff I haven't used for years and never likely to has all been packed ready for CS, very therapeutic. Need to cream my hands as I never wear gloves.:o Fortunately I don't do much housework either!:rotfl:

    Back soon.

Afternoon all! Hope we're all well - on the subject of multitasking I marked a set of school books while waiting for the hair dye to take this morning - if only the kids could see me, the look of sheer horror would be worth it:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just a quickie - my hair seems to be thinner than it used to be even though it was cut just 3 weeks ago, and I'm noticing more hair in the plughole and on brushes. Does anyone have any miracle cures?
I'm a bit anxious about it ( there aren't any bald patches or anything like that but its definitely thinner/finer) and would appreciate any similar experiences or advice (I'm almost 42 in case it makes a difference ).
    Thank you!

I'd like to start off by saying I have no qualifications or anything in hair stuff.... but my suggestion -if you /perm/chemically straighten/blow dry/straighten/curl/back comb/do anything harsh to your hair let it rest for a while, deep condition with a repairing conditioner, (you can get little one application ones for 99p from boots, or if you don't mind spending a little more I find herbal essence ones to be excellent! About £6 for a tub but I wouldn't be without one now). If you can stand it try going a little longer between washes for a while too, let your hairs natural oils do their stuff a little.
Also chemical hair dye is really bad for your hair, I don't know what colour you dye it but maybe try looking for a herbal alternative? I have chemically dyed my hair for years, have moved to henna and the differences are incredible, yes its more effort but I find it a nicer experience. I use a Lush henna, £7 for a block, I have really long hair, and use just 2 or 3 squares of a block (they are split into 6 and they recommend much more but I would have loads left over if i did more...). takes about 8 hours though :/

My grans much older than you of course, but hair is insanely thin now, like scary thin, I wash and cut it for her, and its crazy, my hair is the total other extreme annoyingly thick... the reasons behind grans - back combing, and perms, she has always since she was about 20 either back combed or permed her hair, 50 odd years of it has killed her hair it's pretty much coming out in chunks :/

(I did a blog post on lush henna... a loooong time ago -http://tottstittle.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/product-review-lush-henna-caca-marron.html)
I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.

  • Hi all looks like lots of Sunday multi tasking has been taking place today!!
I've had a really rotten week for one way or another and lots of family/ friends going through tough times it's all been pretty draining!
Determined to pick myself up and have a good week despite feeling exhausted already... sorry to moan it just all feels a bit much!
Anyway off to have a bubbly bath hopefully do some pampering and herbal tea before bed.
    Positive vibes!!!

Also WW I sometimes have phases of hair falling out, try combing through with conditioner when it's wet to minimize pulling on it and otherwise just give it some love! :A

My hair got thinner a couple years back. I think it was a combination of many things - stress, moving to a hard water area causing my scalp to flare up, bad diet, too much alcohol.etc

Hair loss is a clue to lots of different things, it could be hormonal too if you're getting near the menopause.

Anyway, for me I've been working this weekend, all day on my feet! I can still feel my legs being achy from my personal training session 2 days ago! I think the achy-ness should be gone by tomorrow (hopefully!)
