Also WW I sometimes have phases of hair falling out, try combing through with conditioner when it's wet to minimize pulling on it and otherwise just give it some love! :A

WW, I do those things too along with trying to minimise washing whenever possible. To look really presentable my hair needs to be washed/blowdried every other day. If I use mousse when blow drying then it can usually last an extra day as it doesn't get too greasy looking. If your hair is long maybe you can put it up/tie it back for a day to avoid washing. I think all those things help as do anything to do with healthy eating but I know you do that anyway.

    Have a good week t2b.:)
  • Funnily enough I have been having hair and skin issues too. Both my scalp and my lower legs have become quite sore and itchy.

I wondered if it was an overload of products and chemicals etc. so I have made up a body oil of my own and I intend to go to a health shop tomorrow to look at kinder shampoos etc.

I really adore a bubble bath but I think there's just too many nasties in them for my skin. I do think our skin changes and dries out as we get a bit older. Plus winter chills and central heating seem to make matters worse. I am going to try oatmeal baths and just add some essential oils. I shall miss my bubbles though.:o

I've always washed my hair every day and a nice long soak in the bath too to ease my back. I have decided to try every other day and see if there is an improvement.

WW - try some TLC - lots of suggestions here. Maybe increase your vitamins etc.

It's a bit expensive but Imedeen is a great vit complex for skin/hair and nails. There are some cheaper versions available, not sure how good they are. Basically they are based around shell fish and marine extracts - no good if you are allergic to shell fish obviously.

Evening Primrose Oil capsules might be worth a try. EPO is good for skin, not sure if it would help with hair. Good old cod liver oil is another one you might look at.

Try to include seeds in your diet, either whole seeds or the oil from them such as flax seeds or hemp oil. And of course our old friend the Mediterranean diet, oily fish and olive oil. Salmon is particularly good, herrings too but I can't stand them!!

I hate to say this but one of the worst things for hair loss is stress. When things were bad a couple of years ago my hair loss was scary, thankfully now that my life is on a more even keel my hair seems to have improved a lot.

I know you love your job but it does sound a bit full on at times, make sure you take time out for yourself and don't get overstressed.

Hope you see some improvement in a few weeks, if not then see your doctor.

WW, Lesson Learned has said what I was going to say!

Have a look at the "hair, skin, nails" supplements in Superdrug or your supermarket, Asda & Tesco often have them on 3 for 2 ;)

Wow! Thanks ladies for all of the advice on hair
I read an article on line yesterday about Oct/Nov being the peak time for hair loss in women too - something about the hair's natural cycle and it peaks growing in the summer, "rests" for a month or two then falls out. Made me feel a bit better anyway.
Funnily enough it looks and feels better today - perhaps the grey roots made it look thinner and worse than it was? Its softer and shinier today - may be all in my mind but its a worry.

If I'm honest my diet has been rubbish lately - lack of time and inclination - and I haven't had nearly as much exercise as I should have. I've also been soooo busy and I didn't think I was stressed but I think subconsciously I am. I got sent home from work today - was sick and felt all dizzy and lightheaded, I didn't sleep at all last night and toyed with not going in but went anyway, not the best idea I've ever had :o I think I have a sickness bug that's been doing the rounds here - headachey, sick and generally tired and run down. Fell asleep on the sofa for most of the morning and had some beans on toast for lunch and feel a lot better now. I'll have a quiet afternoon and an early night and will hopefully be ok by the morning.

So ladies, looking after myself properly again starts today!
Actually cooking rather than grabbing and eating or bunging something in the microwave, more exercise (good for stress relief too!), trying to sleep more (never been very good at sleeping) and trying to switch off occasionally.
    I forget that I'm not 22 anymore!

I'll pop into the shops tomorrow to investigate vitamins and hair supplements and pick up more veg to go with what I already have in. I'm good at fruit (eat 3 pieces for lunch every day) but hopeless with veg. I think its because I only "cook" for one and veg seems like an effort or too big a quantity for just me. No more excuses!

    Hi all,

melly - I love 60s style eyes, think it looks better with liquid eyeliner though and I never seemed to quite get the hang of that :)

WW - hope you're feeling a bit better. Sounds like it's been all go at the moment and it does catch up with you after a bit. Take care x

LL - have you maybe tried baby bubble bath - think they're generally milder so might have less chemicals?

Bit busy this week, got stuck doing 5 days and realising that I've rather got out of the habit. It's not like I don't work when I'm at home but somehow it seems less effort when I don't have to trek out on the bus etc :) It's been cold and miserable too (blowing a gale today!) so the exercise hasn't been going too well. Have been making more of an effort with the eating. We'll see if the scales agree at weekend! :rotfl:Been trying to 'chill out' a bit more as well. Managed to get to cinema with a friend last weekend, went to see Thor 2 for some nice eye-candy ;)
Anyway, should get back to the writing. Working on a ww2 themed story at the moment, lots of research which isn't my strong point.

Hope everyone is having a good day x
