In my student days I lived right opposite the Uni so when I needed the loo I used to go over the road to save on loo roll.
I have always made the most of any freebies. If a supermarket is giving out samples I make sure I go round 3 times and send my children round 3 times each too. The last time I did this was last week when someone was handing out free chewing gum.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

Sorry, I'll get me coat
You joke, but I was once travelling in Eastern Europe, and stayed with a family there for a few weeks. I'd noticed a bin with scrap paper in it in the lav, and one day I wanted to write something down so Iwent to get some. It was then I noticed noticed all the pieces of paper had brown smears on it! We're not big coffee or tea drinkers in our house so when my son was younger and we got milk tokens i found a shop where you could trade them for food.
I also did something real bad to 3 seprate take away places. I'd place an order then deny it was me when it turned up....2 out of the 3 times they ofered to let me have it as they would only bin it when they got back.
I've also done the toilet roll thing
When we ran out of electric one night i convinced my son that playing rock paper scissors by gas fire light was fun...he's 13 now and still sometimes asks me to turn the lights off and have a game in front of the fire.
and BTW...i'm glad i stole the toilet roll as i've pee'd myself laughing at this thread !!!!!!0 -
Hmm where do I start.
since loosing my last job I've been living off poundland food, bread and milk. A 6pk of noodles is pretty much one weeks supply of dinners. Have a cup of tea for breakfast, bag myself up with diluting juice (i bought 5l of the stuff for £2 at macro) for the rest of the day, dinner is a noodle sandwich with a little ammount left over (so it feels like im having a sandwich and MORE noodles) then a cup of tea and more diluting juice. By the time ive eaten all six packs it's then time to go to my mums on sunday for a propper dinner to stop me keeling over!
Living on £4 a week is hard work!Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:
This time I'm on top of it! We live and learn :coffee:0 -

Everything that didn't sell on ebay went to a car boot sale the weekend after & basically been living ever since with the few bits that didn't sell at either with just the addition of an inflatable sofa & a throw to cover it with. (saved a fortune by not needing contents insurance as well)
I also lived on porridge & beans on toast for that first month as well (visited mam & dad for sunday lunches though)

I know that feeling. You might want to check for the salt content though as things like sweetcorn can be high in salt and babies are less equipped to process it.Target 1: Pay off Alders by July 2007(done), Target 2: Clear overdraft by end of 2007
