Some of these tales have had me laughing, some have had me like this:  and some have brought tears to my eyes..
I can't think of anything like this as an adult whilst in debt but I can remember when we were younger and skint in a freezing cold council house, my Mum making a big pan of cheap porridge and eking it out for days (between 4 of us). Also if - on the occasions we had cornflakes - we didn't eat all our cereal, she would put it in the fridge and make us eat it the next day.
I do remember pinching a bottle of milk off someone's doorstep one morning on our estate as we didn't have any. Mum didn't ask me to - in fact she would have tanned my hide if she had known I stole it...I think I just lied and said I found some money or someone gave it to us.
I remember chipping ice off the inside of the bedroom window in that house too as we had no money for upstairs heating (this was before the council house got modernised in 1985 and then they put in central heating) and I also remember jumble sale clothes that would get me teased rotten in school. I think I was 16 and out at work before I had brand new clothes (that weren't school uniform bought with a grant!). Well except undies & socks that is....they were always new....Mum drew the line there thankfully!! :rotfl:Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

In my twenties I had to throw a few sickies just before payday as I had spent all my money on going out at the weekend and had to eek out what petrol I had left to get to work .... but never on a Monday or Friday so the Boss didn't catch on....:o
I also had a friend who also took "toilet roll orders" before going out to the pubs so that we didn't run short. I just wasn't brave enough to nick a whole roll....just a few handfuls!Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D

I dont think theres anything wrong with this whatsoever. I know that when the patter of tiny feet come into the power household my mother will go bloody mad and buy up the whole of mcarthur glen. I will work out whats more lucrative on ebay and sell it stright away while its stil got the tags on.
Its SO much more important to your kids you endeavour to get to financial security, than them having far too much than they know what to do with. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Ive also used toilet roll at that time, and ive also taken the odd roll from other places when ive been desperate.
Ive bought my children things from car boot sales and charity shops and wrapped them up for their birthdays or christmas, and once i gave Ds some finger paints for christmas, he didnt use them, so i wrapped them up again and gave them to him again for his birthday!!!!
Ive also lived off of all sorts of horrible cheap food, but one of the things i do now is always have a full cupboard of 'store cupboard ingredients' think its from way back when i really had nothing, and would hate to be in that position again now i have children.0 -

I've held on to going to the loo till i get to work to use there bog roll rather than waste mine.::o
I use work phone for all my basic day time calls. (god hope no one from work knows who this is)
I done something terrible though recently, was at a coffee morning that had a raffle, my (well off) mate left me her tickets cos she had to go and she won. I took the prize and didn't tell her - used it as a pressie for my daughters birthday. I will NEVER go to heaven i know. One day i will tell her and she'll laugh. I know she will (i hope she will)The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0
