What's your strangest dream?

I have some very bizarre dreams from time to time but none I can really remember for more than an hour or so after waking, except for incoherent drips and drabs.
My ex has been showing up in my dreams a lot lately, though I can't remember in what context.
I tend to have dreams with a piece of music running constantly throughout it so much so that the music is stuck in my head for the majority of the day after waking. Yesterday I had the theme to The Shield in my head all day!
Dreaming of specific people is usually our mind telling us there is some aspect of their personality we need to take on in order to get through or resolve a situation.
Its usually the trait that we most strongly associate that person with that we need, even if it's not necessarily one we like.
Perhaps they are forceful and you need to be more forceful, or gentler etc.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

There's nothing specific about her personality that I feel that I'm lacking.
I'm more inclined to believe that it's a combination of residual/lingering feelings for her and nerves over getting married in a few month's time.0 -

Oh yes I expect they are just memory dreams then, if I can't relate my dreams to anything specific I accept they are just memories being replayed, I have to stop myself analysing dreams too deeply I can immediately build a whole scenario in my head.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
When I was a kid I had a recurring dream that I was trying to get into my school but there was a giant mutant thing in the doorway with a chainsaw, and I only had an iron to fight back with. I could always see my PE teacher just behind the mutant and tried shouting for help, but he was always too busy cleaning a swimming pool. I never once got in!!
I always have very vivid dreams, and recurring themes are being chased or trying to run for a bus or something, and not being able to run properly. Or having to get dressed quickly for something and not being able to get my clothes on! Just lately this took the form of attending an old friend's wedding and missing the ceremony because I was stuck in a lift going down hundreds of floors, so having to rush to get ready and not being able to dress properly.
I also have lucid dreams quite often, and I always try to fly.
The worst is sleep paralysis, this usually happens to me when I've been sleeping in an uncomfortable position or a certain part of me is hurting. In my awake/dream state I always imagine the site of pain to be caused by the pressure of someone's hand, but I can't open my eyes to find out who. I then realise I've been sleeping and the only way I can stop the paralysis is by relaxing and going back to sleep.0 -

Sleep paralysis can occur when you are stressed and have been denied sufficient REM sleep, so the next time you sleep you go immediately into REM sleep without being sufficiently relaxed and you aren't in a deep enough sleep not to be easily woken.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
To dream that you are late signifies your fear of change and your ambivalence about seizing an opportunity. You may feel unready, unworthy, or unsupported in your current circumstances. Additionally, you may be overwhelmed or conflicted with decisions about your future. Time is running out and you no longer have time to accomplish all the things you want.

Tbh I don't usually believe that dreams have much significance, but that's really interesting. I'm a total change-a-phobe (crying, depression, panic attacks, the full shabang) and have recently had to force myself to accept opportunities that I would usually turn down out of pure fear of something new. And the sleep paralysis happens in sort of 'bouts' when I'm particularly stressy/emotional.

What causes lucid dreams?
Lucid dreams occur in a stage between REM and being fully awake, in a normal dream the rational part of the brain is turned off, we are happy to just go with the dream watching it almost.
During a lucid dream the rational part of the brain is active so it's as if we wake up within our dreams.
Lucid dreaming is very common and can be used to resolve dream issues, ie if being chased in a lucid dream, asking the pursuers what they want can be very revealing.
Having lots of dreams in a night is a great indicator of stress and lots of REM sleep can indicate depression.
By trying to interpret your dreams perhaps it can help resolve some issues in waking life.
Use your lucid dreams to change the endings of your dreams you could be surprised by the result.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Lieja can I ask whether you manage to fly in your lucid dreams?
Dreaming of flying means you feel released from things that were holding you back.
If you were only attempting to but not managing to fly I would say perhaps you know that only you can release yourself from the constraints of things holding you back but you are still unwilling.
Next time truly fly.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I dream a lot, especially when stressed. I sit up and shout too according to OH and sleepwalk on rare occasions. Once when our cat had kittens I woke him up when I switched the bedroom light on and was rummaging through my underwear drawer looking for the kittens...Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

I think dreaming much more when stressed is our minds way of trying to get us to listen to our subconcious and deal with what is stressing us out, since analysing my own dreams my stress levels are down massively, although I must confess to missing my epic zombie dreams though I can live without my hiding dead bodies dreams, the body hid in the drawer under my bed was particularly horrific.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0
