ooooh it all sounds fantastic :D love planning a good holiday ;P

chicago is a lovely place to visit :)

could you fly from houston to new orleans in the middle rather than getting the train? I LOVED new orleans, it was such a fantastic place. and was quite relaxing just wondering around getting drinks and listening to music. i went before the hurricane (missed it by 4 days ) so not sure if its exactly the same but a friend has been since and loved it. i would def go back when i go to usa again. would love to to mardi gras :D

Reasons for picking where we did:

    Los Angeles
I love watching the oscars and have a fascination with films (I am not really interested in the celebrity scandal, love lives, etc but I like them in films) so LA was always a must-do for me.
We are doing all the usual toursity stuff including the Kodak Theatre and walk of fame. We are even going to eat at In-N-Out Burger!!
    :D

    Las Vegas
This is one of OH's choices although I am not complaining. Whilst he wants to have a go at the casinos, I want to go see "Paris" and "Venice" and the "pirate ship". The hotel room I have picked in the Bellagio is the salone premier fountain view suite. Basically cause I love watching the fountains and it would be awesome to be able to watch it from our room.
It's also nice and easy to get to the Grand Canyon from there and also to the Hoover Dam. I love stuff like that.
    :o

    Houston
This one is a bit stupid to be honest. It comes from my Dad's love of westerns. I used to watch a lot of John Wayne growing up. My OH loves that "Man vs Food" programme and he wants to try the places mentioned in his tv shows so Texas it is.
Out of Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio... Houston had the most stuff that interested me which is why we picked there. However there isn't much (only 6 things) so the plan is to kinda relax a bit after a hectic first week in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
    :)

    ??????
Have heaps of places I want to go see. I just can't decide which one to see first.

    Washington DC
A late arrival after Miami proved a bit uninspiring and Orlando is nothing but theme parks. OH suggested Washington DC and here it is... only 10 things to do here, however four of them are massive museums (three by the Smithsonian) so they will take up a lot of time. I would say it is my new favourite place but it would be have to beat Los Angeles and my beloved New York first.
    :D

    New York
I have been "visiting" New York since I was a child watching it in various films and growing more and more in love with it as I got older.
I love the architecture and the fact that there is a massive park in the middle. I love that you can wander around and find places from the films and I absolutely love that New Yorkers don't seem to be phased by the stunning place that they are in, it's just home.
The Plaza is in a few films that we both love so at first we were just going to visit it and take a few pictures but then we decided that if we save hard, the Plaza could be our final destination on our honeymoon. It is a once-in-a-lifetime event after all. So we managed to convince ourselves to stay there. There was a lot of arm twisting, honest.
    ;)

We have never been to America before so this is a first for both of us (slight lie, I spent four hours in San Fransisco Airport waiting for a connecting flight, didn't get to leave though and never saw the bridge).
    :(

We are both really excited. From a shopping point of view, neither of us are big packers so the plan is to take a backpack each and a big case (possibly each) and slowly fill the big case(s) with stuff to take back.
    :D

In case you can't tell, I am very very excited. The honeymoon is going to be awesome.
    :j

P.S: I love researching and doing itineraries too. It is one of my favourite things.

Thanks for the replies blinman and clippy_girl.

I will definitely have a nosey at those threads blindman. I don't tend to leave the debt-free section that often. Hopefully, I won't find more brilliant stuff...
    :o

I like the idea of New Orleans clippy_girl but OH isn't so keen. He's such a pest sometimes, don't know why he's coming.
    ;)

I also quite liked the idea Siouxsie had about straying over the border but again OH wasn't so keen. He wants to do Canada seperately and I suppose I should let him have some say in this.
    :p

    Thanks again for the replies.
    Hugs.

Morning. Woooooo... it's still morning. Only for another six minutes though. Still classing it as getting up in the morning.
    ;)

    Final destination is New Orleans.

It took a while and a lot or researching everywhere else but then I found a swamp cruise where we could see alligators in their natural habitat. So OH is now thrilled and can't wait for New Orleans.
    :D

Only six things to do in New Orleans but one will take up the whole day (national ww2 museum) and we have one that could possibly take up the whole day which is the ferry from Canal Street to Algiers Point. It goes across the mississippi which is a bit appealing although I have no idea why we are going accross yet.
    :p

So that is our honeymoon complete. I have accomodation, attractions, eateries and amazing sights already to be seen. The only thing I am disappointed with was that I was hoping to find OH a really southern place to eat but can't seem to find one in either Houston or New Orleans.
    :undecided

Today, I had a wee scan of prices and to be honest, it is not too horrific. Going by 3xp3dia... our 5 flights within the USA will only be about £600 each. Which is pretty good considering it is 5 seperate flights.
    :D

Money-wise, I have been shopping and demolished about £40. However, we have enough food to last us about two weeks - a month (apart from veggies, milk, fruit and the other healthy stuff).
    :o

Barcelona is getting closer and I am getting really excited.

With so much time to plan\save you should be looking at getting credit card sign ups for Avios or other FF miles.
This will make the flights in Usa almost free

Obviously don't know your credit card history:cool:

Look at Head for points for ideas on what to get.

It's how I travel for almost free.

    And not so free-but cheaper

Ah, thanks for the recommendation blindman. I had to google to find out what a po'boy is but it sounds really nice.
    :D

OH has an av1os account (linked to his credit card which he pays off every month if he uses it).
I have a v1rg1n flying club account which is linked to tescimos, an account I do surveys for and also any flights we have down south.

OH comes from hertfordshire originally so he flies down to see his folks about once a month which we are now doing it via v1rg1n so that we get points doing that.
    :)

Currently researching london... erm, just for something to do really.

I actually really enjoy London when I leave the pub (rare), but have never really planned anything for while I'm there, I tend to play it by ear or just walk and visit the places I spot while I'm wandering.

Keep saying I need to visit the Natural History Museum but never get over that end of town so hopefully at some point this year I will (just not May BH as it'll be horribly busy and I'll be horribly hungover).

Want to visit HMS Belfast again though, last time I got aboard I was with the ex and she was being slightly refurbished. Of course now I've got the annual pass the SeaLife Centre is a must given it's a 5 min walk from the hotel we usually stay at (and there are two good pubs near by...)

I loved the natural history museum when we went scuby. It was amazing. I really liked the dinosaur bit even though they charged extra.
    :o

I am currently wanting to go back to london due to the baby tigers being born but need to wait as we have debt busting to do first.
    :(

Credit card has gone up by £100... however that is due to my car insurance which I paid this month. The December holiday has been completely paid off.

Blindman, thank you for your information. Because of you, I have now realised that OH's flights were not going on to my fc account. So I have referred him to the fc so he can get his flights credited.
    :D

There's not really much happening just now I'm afraid. Just work and sleep.

    Hope everyone is doing well.
    Hugs.

The ship or the ex  and is that why you dumped him?

The ship...although refurbishing the ex might have meant I kept him around slightly longer instead of just replacing him. :p

I'm actually just looking at trains to get me down to London for the Bank Holiday weekend just wish I knew exactly when I was coming home again to get the best deal!
