Sorry, I am here. Was supposed to post last night but we had a family emergency so I have been offline until now.
    :(

Will come back later today with an update and to be more friendly and chat, right now I just want to go to sleep.
    :o

    Hugs to you all.

    Evening everyone.

Not much has been going on to be honest... We have pretty much ran out of money (not technically just according to the budget).
I think we currently have £40 left in the budget account and obviously whatever my dad has in my main account.
Considering that about £150 of the £400 went into a saving account, I think I have done not too badly.
    :o

I stupidly decided to watch the voice and they have just got some girl to sing one of my favourite songs and it was just awful. I understand how people can adapt songs to suit themselves but the only thing the same was the lyrics, there was nothing there.... it's my own fault for watching the stupid show but rarrrrrrrr. There are plenty of songs in pop for them to destroy.

Anyways, rant over. Don't want to scare people off.
    :p

Working hard fmess?? Silly question I know. Have you got some time off. I worry about you maybe burning out as you always seem to be on the go with work.
    :(

Had to giggle about that blindman and scuby. I have never been on the ship in London, I didn't know it was a tourist attraction.
We did the one in Edinburgh and it was brilliant. The people there were so friendly and lovely.
    :D

Hope you are all doing well and keep in touch.
    Hugs.

    Evening

I was watching the voice and have to agree that they ruined some perfectly good songs today :(

Yes still working pretty hard although having a day off today. I always try to have a 24 hour period off on the weekend to try and unwind. I have used today to empty my garage ready for it being knocked down in about 2 weeks, so a physical kind of work today lol.

I was hoping that the national strike day on Wednesday might give me a day to catch up on work (my union is not striking) but my school is open to all the older kids and I have a normal day of teaching :(

In other news, OH starts his new hours a week on Tuesday so he will be working more hours but over less days, and will be away 4 nights out of 16. Think it's going to take some getting used to and will mean I'll be home alone more, and therefore responsible for all the dog walking some days.

    How is the 5:2 diet?

    Hugs

The 5:2 diet was on hold for a while. I am finding it hard to organise it due to nightshifts (I have to eat on nights or I flouder massively)...

... however, I am starting again tomorrow. Starve day is Monday and probably Friday (nightshifts tuesday and wednesday). I have a day shift on the Saturday which puts it out of the running and I would quite like to have a decent meal with the OH on Sunday.
    :o

Glad to hear you are having a day off fmess. Even if it is not a lazing about relaxing sort of day, it will hopefully give your brain a rest.
New job for your OH sounds good. Will he be able to contribute a bit more to the debt busting??
And at least the dog walking will give you a chance to relax and reflect on your day. I love reflecting on what has happened and what I need to do, it is so relaxing to me. I hope it has the safe effect for you.
    :)

I am having a very financially/family day today which is prett cool. We are having my parents round for dinner (roast pork and roast chicken with all the trimmings) and we are cleaning the house a wee bit prior to their arrival.
We have been shopping (that's another £20 gone, whoops). However, we did have it spare in the budget account and I have had to take out an additional £10 as my mum and brother have bought us a lottery ticket (it's for one of my brother's clubs he goes to) so I now owe my mum that. Fingers crossed we win.
    ;)

I have decided to take £150 out of my savings account (should be sitting at about £400) and pay off a bit of the N3XT account which is currently sitting at about £189.
    :(

This should leave us with £200 to buy euros for our holiday to Barcelona. (We currently have 300 euros saved for it). Any leftover euros will be put to one side for our trip to Kos in June.
    :D

That leaves £50 in the account but then by the time June arrives, it should be back up to £200 again.
    :)

I have also gone through our pots:
Holiday pot: £626.00 (this is £68 more than we should have in there at this time).
Xmas pot: £182.00 (this is £2 more than what should be in there).

The exciting thing (for me at least) is that once we have paid in April's money, we will have over £1000!!!!!!
    :j

Hope everyone is doing really well. i am off to do some dusting and polishing. OH sorted the toilet out yesterday so at least I have gotten out of that one.
    :rotfl:

    Hugs to everyone.

Away to watch Harry again. Hooray for itv player as I tend to miss everything nowadays. Love Harry, he seems like such a lovely guy.
    :D

Spoke to my Dad today and although, he said we only had £500 to put to the credit card, he had managed to find another £100 so that's £600 off the credit card.
I am 99% sure that I have not touched the card this month so hopefully the £600 should knock it down a bit.
    :undecided

We have also made the decision to restart my billing account. Before I had all my issues, I had several accounts including my main account, my budget account, a savings account and my billing account.
I paid £150 a month in to my billing account and it covered car, house, and any other surprises. I couldn't touch it so it just added up. My dad wants us to restart it so that I don't have to use the card for any bills again.
We are going to pay in about £100 a month and we have pretty much a year before I need to pay out car and house insurance again.
    :)

The plan has changed. My dad wants me to keep saving in my savings account so my mum suggested only paying £500 next month to the credit card and £100 to N3XT... however, I am very stubborn so plan to put £600 to the credit card and use £100 of my budget account to pay N3XT.
    ;)

    Out of £400:
    * £107 has to go to our savings pots which leaves £293.
    * £100 goes to N3XT which leaves £193.
    * budget varies depending on NSK's next challenge.

But if we class NSK's budget as £120 plus £50 for petrol then that leaves a whole £23 leftover!! Woah, made of money.
    :p

So we had a lovely meal with my parents and OH and I have decided to make it a monthly thing. Two course meal once a month sounds do-able.
    :)

    Hope everyone is doing well.
    Hugs.

So, here I am sitting watching cheesy tv which I don't normally watch at all.
It makes me think about when OH and I first met and how cute it was in a weird kinda way.
    :o

So, spoke to my mum today about my master plan and she let me in on a little secret.
Apparently, my dad has been working well with my money and I will have enough in my current account to have £300 for our trip to Barcelona plus still pay off £600 to the credit card.
    :j

Decided to do the grateful thing today... I am very grateful for having all my limbs working and being able to do what I want without too much difficulty (after watching harry's south pole heroes); grateful for an OH who accepts me for who I am and who loves me and looks after me (after watching cheesy tv) and for my daddy who has never steered me wrong and who is always looking out for my best interests even when I am not looking out for my own.
    :o

Heading out tomorrow as a treat because I am taking my brother to the airport so my mum has decided to take me out for an afternoon tea (her treat).
    :)

Back to work tomorrow night so I may go AWOL again, sorry in advance.

Hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch.
    Hugs.

    Hi

Don't think OH will be contributing to the debt busting. It is all in my name, even if he technically helped me spend it, he still earns less than me and struggles to balance his money. I am determined to pay it all off and hopefully along the way he will be able to learn how to manage his money.

Hope you've had a lovely day with your mum

Evening fmess. Hope you are keeping well??

It's a shame that your hubby isn't helping when he also created some of the debt. Maybe once you are debt free, he will start helping you save instead.
It is a lot more appealing saving to get a reward than saving for nothing (if you know what I mean).
    :undecided

Today was a bit of an eye opener for me. OH came home with two bingo scratchcards for us (one each).
The main prize is £300,000 and it got us talking. If we won the jackpot... we would pay off our debts (£80k for me and £90k for him, approximately), give £20k to each of our families (my parents and his) then use the rest as a savings pot.

We then discussed how if we didn't have our debts, we would be able to save about £1800 a month. That is a trip to New York every month!!

It's quite scary to see how much money is being "wasted" every month. Certainly opens my eyes as to how much I want to get rid of this debt.
After the wedding, I think I will start focussing on the mortgage and get it finished. I only have 12 years to go (completes when I am 42) but that random chat about saving so much has made me want to get rid of it sooner.
    :o

I find it quite strange sometimes how random chats are often the ones that make a point where as actual planned discussions never seem to stick with you.
Although it might just be because I am broken.
    ;)

Hope you are all doing well. I apologise for the ramblings.
    Hugs.

Had a pretty great day today.

Received my extra payslip (I worked a lot of extra shifts in February). Turns out I have made an extra £652!!!!!
    :j

So I have spoken to my daddy and hopefully, the plan is to pay £1000 off my credit card as opposed to just the £600.
I can't believe I just referred to £600 as "just". It is a lot of money.

The remaining £200 is going to probably go into my savings account for future use.
    :D

    Hugs to everyone.
