My OH and I got engaged whilst in Barcelona. It was a lovely proposal in Guell Park. We had a beautiful view of the city then as he did the deed, a steel band started playing right beside us. It was completely spontaneous (not the proposal but the band) and really funny in a cute sort of way.

Thank you very much.
Righto, so May has arrived and I haven't yet planned my budgetty stuff (still on holiday mode).
15 sfd... this is achievable (hopefully) although today won't be one as I am heading out with the girls.
Post everyday. I will try to post everyday but it might go a bit wrong towards the end of the month.
food budget: £120. I think this works out at £30 a week which is more than achievable. Hopefully we will have some leftover (would be a first).
petrol budget: £50. Might need to increase this depending on travel plans (we are heading down to Brimingham at the end of the month to fly out to Kos).
Meal things. I am going to try and plan my meals but also try and cut out dairy. For the past two weeks I have been vomiting after eating certain things and I think it might be dairy related. (chocolate mousse, cereal with milk, hot chocolate with milk/cream, etc).
Diet: Lose 8 pounds. Yep, it's back with a vengence.... I need to lose weight. There is no two ways about it so this is back in. It's only two pounds a week, it's not that hard to do.
:embarasse
Savings pots. We have savings pots which I need to take into consideration as well. £100 this month exactly!!
:j
I am breaking the rules on the first day of the month as we are going shopping today and I will probably buy stuff... but I will try and be good.
I had planned to set aside £50 for this so that I can enjoy it.
Think thats it... I think.
Hugs to everyone.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91
Savings: £0/£64000 -
So.... the beginning of the month and a bit of a disasterous start (all self-inflicted so no sympathy please).
:embarasse
However, we are going to attempt to fix it.
Holiday pot = £359.90
Xmas pot = £310.00
:j
We did go food shopping so it's not a spend-free day today. However, it should be for the rest of the week.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

:hello: Hi!
I hope you don't mind Stewby but I have subscribed after spending the last 2 days reading your entire diary. Very honest and inspiring!
Glad to see you are doing well with your finances and the OH is on board. If only my OH was the same
Oh and congratulations on the engagement :j
Rokat x0 -
Hello rokat.
I do not mind at all Rokat. I love to have a bit of company. Feel free to chatter about anything.
I think my OH is too far the other way compared to me so we might end up keeping seperate finances for a while.
Otherwise, if he is in charge I might never get to spend money on rubbish.
So weighed myself this morning and I am heavy... not as heavy as I had thought (must have lost something at some point) but still heavy.
Might as well be honest as that is what I said I would be on here.
Starting weight: 218lbs.
Target weight: 144lbs.
Amount to lose: 74lbs.
I plan to try and lose it in 8lb blocks which should make it easier to lose (in my head).
I am going to do that 5/2 diet that my parents did earlier this year.
It was a starve day yesterday which went really well. Maximum of 600 calories and I had 419.
Today will also be a starve day... just because I have a few shifts towards the end of the week and won't be able to "starve" on them. Well, I haven't figured out how to do it yet.
Hope everyone is having a good day.
Hugs.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Well... after blowing off the cobwebs, it's time to get this thread back on track.
Credit Card:
Currently at £3716.51 (including June's spending).
* Hopefully I can continue paying off about £400 - £500 a month. I plan on trying to save and try to have a lump sum so that I can still try to complete the credit card by December.
:undecided
Savings:
* Have one main savings account which gets about £60 a month into it. This will be providing my holiday money for Tenerife in December. Anything leftover will be saved in case of emergencies.
* I have a hidden pot at my mum's house which my OH and Dad do not know about. The plan is to put £100 a month out of my budget account into this.
* My OH and I have two pots at home... a holiday pot and a xmas pot. We were following two different saving schemes from this site but have decided to simplify the savings. Now we have £80 each going into the holiday pot every month and a monthly pot which gets £1 a day into it.
I am obviously still doing NSK's challenges as they are helping us greatly but the aim is to start saving for several reasons:
1) We are now getting married in 4 years time so need to start saving for it.
2) I want to get rid of my credit card. I feel like I am letting my dad down by not being in control of my own finances so I want to get rid of my credit card debt.
3) I would like to move house in the future and as a result would like to have a wee "pot of gold" for any renovation works that are needed.
The plan:
* Hoping to complete paying off the credit card in December.
* Start putting £400 a month into a wedding fund, from January 2015 (once credit card is gone).
* Continue saving our pots and use them appropriately.
That is my savings plans from 1st July 2014.
Wish me luck.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91
Savings: £0/£64000 -
Welcome back, sometimes a break is a great thing.
Sounds like you're back on track with the savings plans, fingers crossed you can stick to it.
How's OH doing work wise these days? It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hey Scuby.
OH is still working in IT. Pilot jobs have just never turned up unfortunately, despite him sending e-mails every three months.
I haven't had a chance to catch up on your thread yet so forgive me if I have missed anything but how is your nan doing?? Has she settled in yet and being nicer to your mum??
:undecided
One of my friends has just done the enduro race thing... did you do it?? I only ask cause I remember you talking about tough mudder and it sounded sort of similar (trials of endurance). I think it was you who was talking about doing it anyways, my memory hasn't gotten any better over the past month or so.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Well at least he's still working, and fingers crossed something comes up for him next time around.
Nana is OK, mostly, she still hates the home, can't understand why she's there because she's not old or sick like everyone else (shes's the oldest there, and it's her birthday today), but unlike most of the other residents she's not got illnesses affecting her mental health.
I think I may have mentioned it - some of my friends have done it in the past. I'm thinking about going for a couple of runs this week as I'm doing the Manchester Color Run on Saturday which is a 5km 'fun' run. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
