If you ever see milk "yellow stickered", do remember that you can freeze it. If you put bread and milk in the freezer in future, it might mean you can avoid going to the supermarket.
Never thought of this which is surprising as my Granny always had milk and bread in her freezer so thanks for this reminder :-)0 -
OMG the last few days have been so tiring. Kids are grumpy and tired being back at school as well.
So spends the last few days.
£20 OH petrol
£10 gas
£8.90 shopping (bread, milk, cereal and rice)
So £38.90
Need to check online banking but this will leave us £109.04 to do 12 days.
We do have M&S vouchers so could use that for food if need be.
I really need to make this work as it means if I do my salary in January can go straight into the savings account.
A spammer in the works is the kids being invited to a party on Sat (well I say party we need to pay the kids entry). It's for someone we are related too but not very close BUT not going will cause upset within the family (too complicated to go into). Going to check online costs and take it from there.
Right best get some house work done.0 -
Well haven't done a thing as I fell asleep
So just had lunch of boiled eggs. Still not had any fizzy juice so that's 7 days. The coke in the fridge has been opened but I am resisting :j
Stil, to do online banking but will do it today.0 -
Online banking done. My figures seem to be out somehow. My calculations show £109.04 left but online shows £122.19.
I will go with my figures and if online is correct then great.
Checked the play place for Sat party. Is £5.96 per child. Will need to factor food in so will be at least £20.00. Still to decide of we will go.
I have put a wash on, swept the kitchen floor and made a pot of soup to do a few Lunches.
DS has come home with a school trip but it's only £1.50. Kids also take school dinners once a week so that will be either tomorrow or Friday and will be £4.00.0 -
I freeze milk to last 2 weeks as well
You can freeze any dairy, I put yoghurts, cheese etc in there too (all the things that seem to run out in our house) I make my own bread now but before we'd have around 6 loaves in the freezer just to stop me from 'popping to the shops for a loaf of bread' and ending up £20 lighter :rotfl:
My bank is a nightmare and it sometimes takes days for things to show up on my account. I'm used to it now but it took me a while and I would always think I had more money than I actually did. Good idea going with your figures I say :T
Wow at the price of the soft play  these places are so expensive . I haven't been in a while and now I remember why! xxMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34

Still not decided to go but yes I do think it's expensive as there are attractions inside that cost to get on so the entry doesn't even cover everything inside .0 -
Another lazy day here for me.
So far I have done nothing.
DD took £2 for school dinners and DS took £1.50 for his school trip. I had no change in the house so had to take it out of my bus fare money. So I owe that envelope £3.5.
Will need to take £10 out and get change as DS wants school dinners tomorrow and he has BB so need £0.50 to take to that.
Dinner is pasta bake so nice and easy.
Good news is DH has got 6 hours OT this week so that should go through in time for Jan's wage.
Off to check online banking to check everything still on track.0 -
Online banking checked still shows a balance of £123.69.
I am also owed £10.8 in expenses but not adding that till I receive it.
Only 11 days to go till CB is paid though I then need to make that last 10. Roll on Feb when things won't be as tight (plus it's a shorter month :-) )0 -
Had a few spends today.
£10.00 Birthday present
£4.04 FFoods
£17.88 A#da
I had to post some things for a friend so paid put £6.22 but she has just transferred that back to me.
I have taken £5.5 out of my bus fare envelope but have paid back in £3.70 (change left from taking out £10 to pay my friends postage).
I have also received the £10.80 owed in expenses today.
So my left over money should be £84.14 to do 10 more days.
Off to check online banking.
Edited: Online banking shows £97.90 so a diff of £13.76.
Will be a very tight week :-(0 -
Well we survived today. Was expensive though. £11 entry then everyone had lunch there so that was £17
The electricity ran out so needed £10 on that and DH needed petrol so £20.
Needed mince and some pack lunch stuff so that was £12 in L!dl and £7 in Ffoods.
So a total spend of £77.
So nearly no money left at all. Still there is food in the cupboards and freezer, stuff for kids lunches. I will need petrol but as I won't be using my car this week it can wait.
Fingers crossed my numbers come up tonight on the lottery :-)0
