  • Work over with again for the week. Was doing Mon and Wed, really like not working the two days together but I know this won't be regular as I am usually 2 days together.

So feeling fine if a bit tired. Have mince cooking for a shepherds pie for dinner.

Online banking checked and we have £60 to do till a week on Monday when child benefit goes in.

Still have £133 in the food envelope but only £20 left in gas and elect but I think we will manage fine.
  • Arghhhhh totally forgot a birthday and wedding anniversary.

    £36 spent :(

£3 spent out of food envelope as well.

Dinner was a mix match of freezer food. Dinner at a family member tomorrow for dinner (the birthday I forgot) so no cooking for me tomorrow.

Need to go to shops tomorrow but not much to get and the cash is in the envelope.

Aww, these things happen. You're doing amazingly well regardless.

Are you feeling a bit better?

    Feeling much better thanks.
  • NSD today.

Had to get petrol yesterday £20.

    Dinner tonight is lasagna.

Having a lazy day today. Have done the dishes and put on a washing but back to bed to watch tv. Kids have tidied their rooms and are planning on playing the Xbox this afternoon.

I keep wishing the days away till pay day so I can put more money in the savings account. Think I have caught the saving bug :T

I'm exactly the same. I have a little diary which has my payday and any standard bills noted down with notes as to whether there is any further action needed. Payday is the day to move my money around (nationwide at 5% and tsb at 3% both require moving money in and out once a month) and bills tend to have a checking exercise involved.

I also have new ISA day marked down. Plus any money I spend during the week. This week I spent 7% of my monthly budget.:D Last week was more like 27%

ETA: Actually DFW321, I was wondering about your saving goals, how do you prioritise them and the rental house fund, why are you going for that instead of REITs or other investment vehicles? I hope you don't mind my asking, I'm just nosey.
  • Been a few days since I have logged on. Been busy but not actually sure with what

Finances not too bad. £20 spent today on petrol and £12 spent in BQ as bath needed re sealed.

House is not too bad but the washing basket is over spilling, as usual.

I'll be totally honest apart from 2002 when I saved like mad for a 5% deposit on my first house (around 5k) I have never saved a penny in my life. :o

I'm not quite sure what you mean by REITs :o. All I know is that I have a move goal in mind (after ds1 has completed his gcse's and before he starts as level next summer) and I decided on an amount we needed to save for a deposit and divided it by the amount of months left to save (I then worked my daily budget around my saving goal). I've put it in an ISA because I want to be able to access it pretty quickly when we are ready to move next year.

I have the rental house only because it's in negative equity and I can't get rid of it. Where it is also seems to attract bad tenants (university town so mostly students or single mums as it's not a big house) I would rather be putting the rental fund money in the ISA for my own house fund to enable us to buy a better property but I need a security cushion as every other tenant I seem to have either trashes my house and/or leaves without paying that I seem to be up the creek every time :wall: So not sure if this answers your question but I need my money readily available and also I have absolutely NO clue about other investments :o:rotfl:.

  • Well the sun is shinning but my it's cold.

Have done two loads of washing and the dinner is in the slow cooker.

DH went to the shops to get bit's and bobs so £19 spent.

There is £53.03 left till 27th so 11 days. There is enough food to last a week just would need bread, milk and cereal so should be doable.

I get paid on Thursday (I think) so apart from £10 for works lotto I should be able to put everything into the savings account, so hurry up Thursday :rotfl:
