Unfortunately the step don't match, and looks like my bb is nuked beyond repair. All this because of a stupid update

    It's not 'beyond repair'.
Have you pulled the battery as suggested and tried a restart?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Several times, the reboot line that appears, stops at 2/3rds, and goes no further.

I am learning all manners of new terms. What is reflashing and how is it done?

    BlackBerry DeskTop software

Install on your PC and then connect your BB to the PC via USB lead.

The DeskTop software will have access to the download below via the Update function.
But it you want to replace the software completely(Flash) you might like to have the download separate.

I have tried to connect my BB to my laptop with the Blackberry Desktop software, but it cannot connect to BB because BB is not booted.

    Hi stefano,

If you'd like us to arrange a repair you can take your phone to your nearest Vodafone store.

Alternatively, we do offer a postal repair service. If you'd like me to arrange this for you could you email me with your details via the link in our profile here?

All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it will take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. So I can make sure I've got it could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

    Kind regards,

    Lee

I am the official company representative of Vodafone. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I am currently in Italy on holidays. How much is the repair likely to cost?

You don't need to pay for anything.

The instructions that you need are in post #4, the software in post #17.

That is all that you need.

The one thing the instructions fail to tell you is that you need to install the Desktop Manager and the Vodafone BB software to the computer before beginning.

Though those steps may be indicated in the video(I haven't watched it)
