  • Hello there,
I am thinking of using VOIP via the Linksys PAP2 adaptor, a few questions:

    1) How is the call quality out of 10 (10 being excellent, 1 being poor)?
    2) Is the call quality the same on all VOIP companies i.e Vonage and VOIPBUSTER etc. or does it vary depending on company?
    3) Finally what is the best price going on the above adaptor?

    Thanks in advance.

    1) Loud here = 8
    2) I don't think so = No they are not all the same.
    3) They are not in production any more = Ebay

    I bought one of these
LINKSYS SIP VOIP PHONE ADAPTOR PAP2-NA STAY UNLOCKED from billionax for £10.
  • Which is the better VOIP adaptor for calls via broadband? I know the Linksys is highly recommended but is no longer available apart from eBay.

    Which others would you recommend?

    Thanks in advance.

PAP2T are still available I think, just not PAP2.

Also other versions are about the same as the PAP2.

    What does QOS provide?

    Quality of service

You can setup priority for a service like VOIP, because if you are uploading and using your bandwidth to much it will affect the VOIP service.

But by giving it prority through the router it should then be OK.
  • Hello there,
Which VOIP company provides the best value for money. I am aware that Vonage and Sipgate exist, anymore to add to the list?

A list of companies would be nice.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Ok old man has just got a Orange contract with 800 x net mins & 3000 landline mins, he has Virgin BB and BT are going going ( almost ) gone

I'm new to VOIP over home BB although I have a 2p incoming 0800 VOIP
( SIP ) number on my Nokia N95 via Newnet.co.uk, any help on Home BB VOIP would be so much appricated, I have negleted educating myself in home BB VOIP as a BT landline, Orange BB wireless & talk & mobile with skype, fring, msn & yahoo messengers pretty much cover all my needs - why I would need VOIP at my house would begger belief, it would be my 3rd landline & im a single occupant ! lol, away to read the sticky but your suggestions & recommendations are most welcome

    Dads needs:

Port BT landline number across, prefer no monthly fees as calls will be 0870, 0845 etc numbers only ( where saynoto0870 alternatives cant be found ) as willl be mainly incoming calls

a adapter/solution for his Virgin BB modem ( Scientific Atlantia modem ) to then plug home phone into, moreso allowing the PC to be switched off if poss

any advice/recommendations ( in true MSE mode - cheap as chips of course lol ) gladly recieved

it is the season to recieve after all ;)
