Can anyone confirm that JustVoip actually works via SIP devices (other than bextech obviously, no offense, you may just be abnormally lucky :j)?
Also, would this be a good place to ask about dial plans on a router? There's seems to be a distinct lack of decent voip forums around, and the one I did find still won't let me sign up :rolleyes:0 -
My PAP2 has worked faultlessly using Voipstunt with a local number for the past 2 months (Thanks BexTech!), but for no obvious reason it suddenly stopped receiving incoming calls.
I can make outgoing calls OK, but anyone calling me just gets a dead line - ie no tones.
I have tried;- Rebooting the device
- Plugging a different phone directly into the unit
- Configuring Sipgate on line 2, which has same problem
Now sorted!
I reflashed the firmware, which I got from the Linksys site, and which suprisingly retained my dial-plans, SIP accounts ect. Now back working.0 -
With excellent help from BexTech, I have now got my PAP2 setup and running via VOIPSTUNT, excelent call quality and with a VOIP-IN number from another provider.
I am just lacking voicemail, can this be configured with VOIPSTUNT, or would I need to use someone like SIPGATE, who provide voicemail as part of the package?
BexTech could you also PM the info on how to do the above. Currently I am running a Netgear TA612V using Sipgate, for the incoming number but it is a bit expensive for outgoing. But I would like to setup my PAP and point a number at it.

yes justvoip works with PAP. I was using it 5 minutes ago! BexTech thanks for you quick reply to my post above. Haven't set up my PAP2 properly yet, am using the justvoip test account to make 2min30sec calls to UK landlines for free!0

with so many VoIP company, and most of them are from betamax, is there such thing as "which one is THE BEST?"0
-
Depends where you want to call! Major differences are some offer 90 days vs 120 days, there are a lot of differences in call costs to UK mobiles, and some offer free sms. The latter two won't matter if you have a contract mobile though.
I'd recommend justvoip off a PC (won't work with my Speedtouch as SIP), or if you want to SIP every call then voipcheap.com, who have good mobile rates. They only offer 90 days though, so if you won't use the 10 euros on calls by that time, smsdiscount offer 120 days (although with slightly more expensive calls to mobiles). All of these have free calls to UK landlines and numerous other countries.
Have a play with this, figure out what call patterns you have then it's relatively easy to pick the best for you:

I've read, but not checked, that a DialNow account can be registered for SIP calls, which if true might be useful while DN has cheap rates. I need to clarify the domain used, as I think it said you can use any Betamax.
More recently it seems that although DialNow account use is possible with SIP, the rates seem to be different - higher of course, so it probably isn't worthwhile unless this tuns out a temporary problem
And I think this happens on a couple of other clones, but can't remember which...0 -
VoipCheap: calling a computer with Linksys PAP2?
I have just signed up with VoipCheap and dialling out to normal telephone numbers with my Linksys PAP2 works just fine.
My question is......... I have a friend overseas who has installed VoipCheap on his computer only (no Linksys PAP2 or similar) he wants to be able to phone me when my computer is off, for free!!!, and therefore come through on my Linksys PAP2, if this is possible.
Any help to set up this option would be most gratefully received.0
