  • Friends,
Anybody knows how to setup justvoip account in LinkSYS PAP2T ip phone adapter? I tried to setup by putting “sip.justvoip.com” as proxy server. My line status shows online, getting dial tune and green light blinking in adapter but could not make calls to any destination. When I dial that return a beep sound after few seconds. I am configured net2phone in the same adapter and working fine. Please help me to put correct settings for Justvoip. Thanks.

I believe Just VoIP doesn't offer a SIP service, their sister services do, but this one is via their software client only.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Hello,

I have been doing some research and reading bits on here, but to be honest, its all greek to me!

I currently use skype from my laptop - which is connected to the internet via a wireless router.
I now have no landline, but do have a landline phone.

I would like to be able to use skype without my computer having to be switched on, ideally so I could use a handset in the same way as I would use a landline phone for incoming and outgoing calls...

    Is this possible?

If so what kit do i need... I believe that the phone adaptop boxes you can buy need the PC to be switched on to work?

Would a skype wireless phone be the best thing?

If so can anyone make a recommendation?

    many thanks
    FC

It's easier to dump Skype and go with the SIP standard for VoIP, you'll have several providers to choose from, many with incoming number for free and some with voicemail for free. Then you can use a SIP ATA and connect it to your router, plug your phone/s into that and you can make and receive calls without the need of the PC/Laptop being on.

Or use sister company VoIPStunt, VoIPDiscout etc and then get an incoming number from elsewhere and point it to the betamax service, though for €1 VoIPStunt etc are offering numbers, but my trick gives you any local area-code at no cost and when someone calls it it rings your betamax service, you can even set the betamax service up to send this other provider local number CLID, plus you can use it on an ATA, so no computer needs to be on to make and receive calls any time of the day or night.

Have you patented this so-called trick, or is it just some company's product that someone else told you about?

    Out of order Redux..

BexTech is a valuable contributer to this thread and has helped many, including me set up VOIP.
Many of us have little knowlege of SIP/VOIP ect, so yes, his 'trick' has enabled us to have a cost effective SIP solution, which is what this forum is about??

Trying to get VOIP working is a steep learning curve for most, so perhaps he should patent it!

  • There is a Betamax VoIP price comparison chart (updated daily) at http://www.backsla.sh/betamax which seems to show that www.JustVoip.com is the best choice for outgoing calls in UK. Don't expect much customer service - you're not paying for it. For incoming calls I use www.sipgate.co.uk to have a landline number with my local area code. (Maybe it's possible to route them through JustVoip.) This is simple and straightforward enough for anyone to set up, and free, and it eliminates most call charges, and line rental charges if you can get your broadband by cable.
PS. Set your JustVoip account in euros, not pounds. This makes the minimum top-up €10 not £10, but still gives you 120 days free landline calls, UK and most international. (www.moneybookers.com is a good way to pay in euros - or dollars) That's less than one eurocent a day!

For those who use ATAs one of the other Betamax providers is probably a better solution, such as VoIPStunt or VoIPDiscount.

I believe JustVoIP maybe one of the Betamax services that you can't point a local external number to it as this one isn't also SIP based.

OK, I have tested it and JustVoIP also now offers SIP so not only can you point for free a local number at this service, if you have an ATA it's possible to set this up on a SIP ATA.

Just VoIP also has good rates to UK mobiles.
