darude wrote:Its look like sipgate doesn't support call forwarding on their system. I guess there are two ways around this.. record a personal voicemail to tell callers to call your mobile number, or.... get a special phone that supports call forwarding.
Maybe it's worth having a look at a service like Voxalot?

To be honest, I don't know much about how it works, but there's a short discussion about it on a thread on another discussion board here."...And I gave that man directions, even though I didn't know the way, 'cause that's the kind of guy I am this week." -- Homer Simpson0 -
Graham1 wrote:I've noticed the server name they give for SIP settings on freecall.com does not work.
Mine works fine with proxy set to 80.239.235.200:5060
and STUN server set to stun.voiparound.com
and User ID and Password filled in.
I've tried this Graham1, but this doesn't work either for me on my PAP2. I've spent ages jiggering with the settings and proxy names. I either get it to show "offline" or just "Can't connect to login server", wheras SipGate on line1 connects and is "Online" almost immediately. Any ideas?
I'm sure that I've got all of the right ports forwarded on my router.0 -
I presume that you can log-in OK with the softphone on your PC - and that you have subsequently disabled the softphone log-in (or uninstalled the application) - since only one device can log-in at any one time.
The :5060 in my posting above is actually redundant - it works fine without it.
Other than that I cannot think of anything. For me it worked as soon as I changed the server name setting they give to the IP address 80.239.235.200
I think any port forwaring problems should only affect voice traffic - the SIP log-in should work irrespective of those settings.0 -

I'm beginning to think that my BT Voyager 2000 wireless router may be causing some sort of problem, but that doesn't explain why SipGate on Line 1 (port 5060) is fine, but no service works on line 2 (port 5061). I even swapped lines and SipGate still works (on line 2 with port 5061), but FreeCall et al still fail???
Thanks for the help so far.0 -
Can I run this type of setup on a VoIP phone....?
1. Sipgate for incoming
2. VoipCheap.com for outgoing
3. Set this up so this works with normal house phones (if I have to buy other phones I don't mind - I just don't want the PC on to receive/make calls)
I haven't brought any eqipment yet, I got free ethernet ports on my broadband router. Please help me find what to buy.
Looking forward to your responses. Thanks!0 -
Hi, darude,
I am not an expert but you may find the following websites interesting you will firstly need what is known as an ata adapter so do a search on ata adapters to which you plug in your normal telephone, this is then (the ata adapter) connected to your router. That way you do not need to switch your computer on. so, its telephone, ata, router. here are some usefull links and information http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16514227~mode=flat
http://www.broadbandbanter.co.uk/uk-voip/
heres a good link with drawings too

this link should answer your questions about the different connections

Did you manage to sort out your Freecall.com registration problem? Like Graham1, I found that the stun.voiparound.com setting didn't work for me either, but on a whim I set it to sip.voiparound.com and it started registering. It could be worth a try."...And I gave that man directions, even though I didn't know the way, 'cause that's the kind of guy I am this week." -- Homer Simpson0 -

Thanks. I did get them working in the end. Can't put my finger on exactly what got it working, but I think setting the proxy to just FreeCall.com instead of stun. or sip. helped, plus the sip.voiparound.com as outbound proxy instead of stun. - anyway, have now transferred the FreeCall/VoipCheap registration details to voxalot.com to automatically route calls to the cheapest provider, and am in the process of diverting my free local DID number to the voxalot account. If this works, people will be able to call me on a local rate number and I'll be able to call out with automatic routing to the cheapest voip provider (with Enum and Sipbroker too).

Glad to hear that it's working!
I decided to experiment with Voxalot the other day and managed to register a sipgate account. You have to be patient - it tends to take a bit of time for the SIP registration to go through (mine took about 6 hours)."...And I gave that man directions, even though I didn't know the way, 'cause that's the kind of guy I am this week." -- Homer Simpson0 -
Hi all
I have registered and have been using https://www.webcalldirect.com for a while now and have made many free landline calls to UK and to my sister who lives in France.
I see at the top of the dialing box it says "Make a call (connection fee 5Ct.)", this is actually contradicted in the FAQ's where is says 3ct !
I have never credited/topped up the account so how am I being chargd the connection fee for my free calls?
I have emailed them but have now waited over a week for a response.
Can anyone help?
Regards
