    Hi carbootcrazy,

I may sound organised but... no actually I am.. I love a list me...!!! However I am spectacularly good at spending money on food that I don't need in the supermarket.. I do have an addictive personality and buying 'reduced' yellow stickered food is like a hobby for me.. I just can't leave it in the shop.. hence I have 2 freezers full... We could probably live off them until Easter next year... So I do understand where you are coming from with the supermarket shop....

So Monday done.. and I should have stayed in bed I think..... started well early leaving the house with dd at 7.30.. she needed to catch teachers to sort her UCAS application and then has 2 days of mocks.. I got to the office by 7.45... computer broke by 8.40.... mended quickly.. then broke again at 9.35.. It then took me 55 minutes to get some help.. What a waste of a morning... the rest of the day just poodled past....

Weekend.. nice drinks and chat with neighbour on Friday, otherwise a little :xmastree:shopping on Saturday and domestic goddess duties all done...

This week dd has the dreaded theatre club up to London.. which involves me dropping her in an area I don't like in the dark.. the only plus side is OH should be around to do the pick up.. can't wait for these to finish but dd loves it.. bless.. No other plans for the week other than working....so will catch up again nearer the weekend....

  • Hi Puzz,
Just had a catch up after being in hiding for a while. It's lovely that you manage to keep up with friends and manage to socialise with friends. I have sadly neglected that this year despite good intentions. I'm trying to work out how we can save towards DD's 21st next year in November :-(
We have not done anything exciting for a while so it would be wonderful to make it a memorable birthday for her - oh and its also DS's 16th the month before her 21st!

We have had our tree since 1995 - the year DD was born and there were no decent trees left by the time we got out to buy it - paid £100 for it and it has lasted 20 years = £5 per year not bad MSE :-P

So today its FRIDAY... :j and I have a cheeky day off... and thank goodness I do...

Last nights was one of the dreaded theatre club nights, now dd loves them but her friend who I expect I have spoken about before can start a fight in an empty telephone box and has no regard to her own or anyone else's safety or feelings for that matter so I am always above anxious on these trips as they are unsupervised, of course they are 17/18 year olds... but something always happens and last night it all kicked off even before it had begun and ended with the 3 of them departing at the wrong station with the friend screaming and shouting and you can picture the scene.. meanwhile poor OH is waiting at a different station and then we have to locate the right station and oh my days.. finally into bed after midnight..... I so hope dd doesn't want to attend any more of them.. on the upside she really enjoyed the play... :D And roll on uni as she definitely is not attending the same one as this friend..

So today I am catching up with some computer chores and house chores, meeting lovely mother for lunch and need to do some banking.. I have another £20 for dd's NY fund and £10 in 50p's for the clothes fund.. I have also opened yet another 'pot' on my banking labelled mum trip.. as in lovely mum... it has a whole pound in it...!! But I have £150 she gave me a couple of months ago that I haven't touched so will bank this into the pot.. That will start it off for a trip maybe next Autumn...

As from end of the month I have no water to pay for 4 months and also feb/march no c.tax so this money will all be saved into my pots...!!

    Work..

Had a good chat with my current manager yesterday and she said don't bother with VR as there will be a job for me as I'm a good egg...!!! I'm not sure I like being an egg.... :rotfl: But although ultimately the job/location etc may change I am probably best just to go with the flow for now, so that's what I am doing...

The weekend.. I have a friend over tomorrow afternoon/overnight and she's bringing food...and we will drink wine.. and put the world to rights...!! No other plans so hopefully some r & r as I am a little tired after last nights antics... and a little cross too...! (not with dd I hasten to add...)

    Onwards and upwards

    Monday...

Can't say I am being very productive today... took 40 minutes this morning to do a 4 mile round trip.. so decided if that was how the day was going to go I would hide...!! dd still not seen her friend since the show down on Thursday night.. so I am staying near by today in case anything kicks off... she has finally dropped her 4th A level so that is good news and hopefully ucas application will go in this week.. fingers crossed... I do feel for my little dd, she doesn't have lots of friends and is feeling a little lost in school today.. hopefully her 'male' friend will be around later to walk home with or mum's taxi will be out...

Good evening Saturday with my friend over, she bought loads of leftovers from her girls night in the night before.. unfortunately I am not a fan of leftovers as you don't know who's been 'double dipping..' and whether they have been laying out for hours, but I did my best and I don't think she noticed..!! Lots of wine drunk but not to late to bed just after midnight as we had been nattering since 3...

Yesterday did a little more :xmastree: shopping and have just placed the last order for books for dd so all her main presents are nearly done... Now just got to organise what we are actually doing for Christmas.. time to speak to the relatives I guess...

No plans this week.. work...and trying not to spend money..!! Will try and get out to do a couple of evening visits, might do one tonight actually...

No money news, nothing to bank this week and now middle of month and 13 days to pay day....

    Friday.....:j And I finish work in 19 minutes... :j

That's about all the positives.... What a week... the drama of last weeks theatre trip has blighted the whole week and I have been up and down to the school picking up a sad dd or dropping her back in time for lessons so she doesn't have to sit on her own during 'free lessons..' as her friend despite 'forgiving the boyfriend' is not speaking to dd which makes her very sad, which makes me even sadder.... I can't wait for this school year to finish and for dd to make her way in the world without this controlling bullish friend using her as and when she wants to... gosh I sound bitter.. well I am... I don't like her, haven't liked her since she threw a hissy fit and went missing in year 7 when suppose to be with dd, and has been nothing but a drama queen every since.. but she's/was dd's friend so I have put up and shut up... Roll on June 2016....!!

On the plus side, dd's ucas application is in, and fingers crossed she gets the offers she wants...

No money news, appear to be poor this week partly in thanks to the £23 ucas application which I hadn't budgeted for..never mind..

The weekend is starting for me in 14 minutes now.. I am collecting dd from school and we are chilling this evening.. tomorrow I am off to an alternative cinema with lovely mother for the afternoon and Sunday will try and do some more Christmas shopping mixed with buying some new trousers for me and I still desperately need some new work tops.... so guaranteed not to find any..!!

9 days to payday..... and 2 weeks until my first 1-1 under my new employer. interviews are in the new year.....

Happy days... well at least it is the weekend.. nearly...

When we were young and insecure we just didn't realise that we just don't need some tw+ts. I went through it and so did my DD's.

Shortly your DD will look back and wonder why she ever bothered trying to be friends with somebody like that. As far as friends go it's gotta be 'out with the old and in with the new!'

    We've all been there :)

    Hi Puzz

Sorry to hear of your DD's 'troubles'. Some girls can be so nasty - just be proud you DD is not one of those girls :) I know it's difficult to watch her go through this period, but at least she knows she has you.
