Lovely sunny day here, bedding from last nights houseguests is out on the line, house tidy and put back together... 3 men, day of football + beer and kebabs... Luckily they all left early with OH off to work, so I have been busy since...

New SC statement in and i'm now in the 56k's.. now still a scary figure but not as scary as the £60062 I started with..... so 5.8% gone.. forever... that feels good...!

Also down £2000 on my family loan (interest free..) this isn't part of my dmp so I don't include it in my percentage figures.. when this is paid off I will be able to up my dmp payments and bring that DFD date forwards..... I'm not going to rush though, have been budgeting and balancing books since August 2013 and although I can see scope where I could increase the debt payments I think this way works for me, at the moment anyway.... I love all my saving pots and having a credit balance in my bank account. I don't think the novelty will ever wear off... I have been in debt all my adult life.. and I've had quite a lot of it..... but am hoping as I near the big 50 the debt will be nearly gone..:D

Got mother popping over to play, plant the tomatoes.... not got much else on today, DD has changed her mind about shoe shopping today so my purse can stay shut... until tomorrow anyway...

    Plans, Plans, Plans...

I am in a thinking mood today...

Now I am paying approximately 1% of my debt every month, this equates to about 100 months. I know this will probably move around as I go along as I hope to be able to increase dmp payments, little payrises etc.. But.. what I also want to achieve alongside DFW status is a little pot of gold... something to aim for that I can use as soon as I reach the heady status of DFW.. so...

Plans.. based on 100 months I am going to work out a realistic amount.. possibly only £10 a month to save for only this purpose... I would then have £1000 come the 100th month and hopefully dfd, and be able to use this for something lovely.. probably a holiday knowing me...!!

I shall have to sit and do my figures to work out a realistic monthly saving because when I start I don't want to have to change it...!! I have many saving pots already but these are used for car/christmas/birthdays/wedding/emergency fund/girls weekend etc.. I have 2 that are pretty redundant at the moment so will rename one DFW Spend... Right back off to planning....

I know it doesn't get me debt free any quicker but I think saving milestones are probably as important as the getting rid of the debt one's... Of course this could all go *i*s up on friday when the car has its mot...

Off out now, to visit family.....in the rain.. you gotta love england.....:D

  • You do need something to aim for. As we got close to our Dfd (exc mortgage), we booked a weekend in London. We were debt free when we travelled and I spent approx £100 on something I'd been hankering for but wouldn't buy while debt clearing. It was such a kick!

Hello INOD, thank you for popping by! I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to think ahead!!! Not sure I'd do London though as I'm only 20 minutes from it by train....! Maybe I should head to NI...!!! I will have to see how big a pot of gold I can grow...!!!

You can tell its the school holidays as its done nothing but charrain.gifthis week..... doesn't really make much difference to me as i'm working but would be nice to get out for a walk in the evening without getting soggy....

I have changed the name of my saving account and decided to start with £10 a month as this is about the extra I now get from the tax changes, I will also tilly tidy to this account... this will now be my DFW account and will be my pot of gold....

Pay day tomorrow.. :T Still got about £25 in the account so starting off on a good foot for June.. No big plans for the month, only one social arranged but that could all change... Must get DD's shoes but still have the money for that hidden away.... Big  is the car on friday, I will be biting my nails all day.....

Off to do some work, best show my worth...! Back later. x

So not a very busy day work wise.. tut tut.. but in my defence it was piddling down and I got soggy going out the first time, didn't fancy it again...

I did update my freezer list, this is really only for me, but I find it useful to put it on here then I can look back and see what I need to eat soonist..!!!

For June.. All meals will be freezer shopped first and I will try, (no promises) to refrain from buying any more until middle of the month...ish... unless its a really bargain of course...!!!

The rolls were all bought today ranging from 9p to 60p... as the last sunny day when I went to tesco's there were no rolls to be seen I thought i'd buy some today as I would like to host a bbq sometime in the next month or 2... even if its just me, oh and dd...

Still planning on a walk tonight, not in the mood, but its stopped raining and so should go and blow the cobwebs away...

Have done my online shop for delivery friday as i'm at home with no car and the boiler service between 12 -2.. so as sainsbugs kindly sent me a £10 off £50 spend I put it to good use...

Will go into the office tomorrow as I need some paperwork and also to print payslip so I can divvy up the money into the right accounts.. love payday...

No other news to report, OH back tonight then he's off on friday for a boys jolly so just us girls for the weekend.. :D

    Friday.. :j

well I failed on my task of not buying any ys items as I bumped into 2 little weightwatchers quiches and couldn't leave them behind yesterday......

The bad news.. The car failed its MOT.....

The good news.. it only cost £148.... now I know that is a lot of money but I had been thinking it was going to be in excess of £500..... I had even worked out where I could snaffle up to £1000 if needs be...! I love my little car and I know its old but she does me good...... and I have enough in my car account to pay for this and the tax due the end of next month...:T

Payday came and went and today I have moved all my money into the various saving pots, including £10 into my new 'pot of gold' account, which now stands at £20.01.... Have removed savings from different account to pay for the theatre tickets and paid this back into the wedding account so all balanced now....

OH went off today for his jolly in Ireland, back monday.. and I discovered last night he is away again for a week in greece in September.. greedy wotsit.....

Had my homegrown lettuce and rocket for dinner, OH was impressed how much I have grown.. (the lettuce not me.. :rotfl:) and I shall pick some more for my dinner tonight...

Waiting for call from garage to collect car and for BG to come and service boiler, and sainsbugs to bring my shopping... House hoovered, second lot of washing nearly finished and then I may celebrate and go clean the bathroom... working a bit of tomorrow... but its overtime so all good.....!!

    Back later...

I love your "Pot of Gold" idea Puzzcat - I've been doing the £1 a day challenge and I'm certainly in the hang of putting my quid away each day and a nice amount at the end of the DMP sounds like a fab idea. I have approx. 33 months to go to the end so this could be a nice little project;)

Shame about your car failing the MOT but great that you had a fund to cover it.

    Take care
