:j:j Caught EJ early doors this morning.. 7am... booked flights....£100 cheaper than those I had checked out... So we are spending the £100 I saved on a 2 bed, 2 bath, 2 balcony penthouse....:j:j

EDIT...:( No penthouses available so just a normal 2 bed with 1 bathroom to fight over...On the plus side.. more :money:

Those who have read about my previous trips with lovely mother will understand that this is a really good thing...!!!!!

    Have a good day..

    :j I'm back....

Well another week has just shot past... So what's been happening..

We've had a blocked drain, exciting evening with a man and his rods..... I'm not convinced the problem has gone away so watch this space.....

Lots of working and meetings.. so many meetings.. and some more overtime done last Saturday. I should have quite a bit of this, this year.. all the pennies help!

DD's been very social so I am very poor....! On the plus side OH is back earning the money so half of my stash has stayed safe..

House guest arriving at the weekend for a few weeks so that is a challenge in itself. Lovely to see them but .....

Received another letter from Prat telling me they are still investigating so debt remains on hold.. I still don't really know what they are investigating I only requested a default and they seem to have done that.. oh well I'm sure they will want payment eventually...

Received another £5 L2Shop voucher and just finished another survey and started a new one this week.. Have been lax with one poll, I always am after I hit pay out..

Got £10 free voucher to spend on Eb*y so bought some sports trousers in the hope they will encourage me to get off my *** and shift some of this lard I am carrying.. cost me £2 p & P...

    That's about it for now..

:j Its Friday.... and I have been missing..:o .. Have a house guest so its quite difficult to get on here plus I have been doing lots of work..... But it is now Friday afternoon, I have completed all required work for the month so :D...

Its also payday...:j Has been a spendy month particularly as it started with a slow trickle of money but hopefully back on track now. Ended the month with £10 in the bank... I got paid some of my overtime for April but a rise in NI payments meant I didn't come out with that much..:(

Next payment to my dmp goes out on Tuesday and I shall update my figures then as house guest will be away for a couple of nights....

Self managing so far has been a doddle.. the only problem I have had is Step Change.. despite writing to them, speaking to them and contacting them online they are persistent in telling me I haven't paid my dmp payment and need to contact them..:( I had no issues with them when I was in my dmp, they obviously do not want to let me go...!!! I have had letters, texts and emails.. hopefully they will stop soon....

Still tubby... hope to start on Monday 9th, bit late for summer....! Although with snow this week who knows if we will get one..!!

dd is still unsure which uni's to put down and has until Wednesday.... she's dilly dallying around...

    That's about it for now...

    Have a good weekend..

    :j Hello.....

House guest away until Thursday so I have been doing some updating of figures/banking etc.. all those secret things you can't do when someone else is around...!!!

As I said its been a spendy month or 2 but hopefully from June onwards will all settle down.

Have updated my dmp figures and I now have dropped into the 42k's... total debt stands at £42952.64 that's a whopping £17109.36 paid off since November 2013... and 28.5% done and gone forever.....:T

My lovely mother loan is standing at £1700 today so should be gone in 8.5 months....Hope to start 2017 owing her nothing.. as long as the car can hold out....!!

Have now included Lowells into the repayment mix but PRAT still appear to be missing investigating some mysterious complaint I have made...:rotfl:

dd still hasn't chosen her uni.. she has until midnight tomorrow....

OH away again in a few weeks but only for a week, let's hope there is enough cash in the weekly pot as I am still hanging onto my spare I saved for after his last holiday...

The Car... MOT due in June.....I have no doubt work will be needed, it is 15 years old but if I can stick it together then I will...

No other news, short week for me with the bank holiday and I am off Friday, so today is my happy hump day....!

    Hi Puzz,
Good luck to DD - uni choices are really hard- a big decision to make based on usually just one visit.
My DD home next week for the summer :) Can't believe she's more than half way through her course!
Fingers crossed that MOT is as painless as possible.

What can I say.... car trouble again...:eek::eek:

Now its all well and good people saying.. oh its time you bought a new one... .well yes it probably is but they don't know I have £££ of debts to pay off.....

On the upside I have found a new local garage that so far seems very good, they are doing the repairs today... £300..ish...
On the upside I can afford this still, despite only paying out £350 last month on the car.. there can't be many bits left to fall off surely...!!! So I have depleted my car fund and taken £100 from my emergency fund so I can still pay lovely mother this month. MOT is next month and if necessary I can skip a month with mother if needed then...

dd finally chose her uni, on the last day....

Have just rung BT having read Martin's email and receiving one from them nicely telling me they need more money.. I am not yet a year into my bb contract, they offered me a 1/3 off the reduced bb price I am currently paying to stay for another year.. upshot an increase of about 75p a month overall so think I can work with that one...

House guest now gone home, its nice to have my house back..! Also OH off again next week so it will be nice and peaceful here...

Now if I can just stop the car breaking, get dd inspired for her exams and keep lovely mother on an even keel all will be well with the world....

Spent the lovely Sunday sunny weather planting out some veg, so am now on snail watch again.. runner beans, peas, tomatoes, chilies and strawberries.. as I am not away in the summer this year it seemed a shame not to have another go..

Right off to do some work..

    :j Friday for me....:j

This week was just too long so have booked tomorrow off... I am going to treat myself to a haircut... and I may do some shopping as well.... even my dd said I look poor as I had a hole in my top....!!!

So despite paying out £317 on the car this week, that is now running like a dream.. Sympathy for my plight has been raised and lovely mother has given me £200... my house guest also gave me £100 so I now have £300..... I am not intending to spend it all on fripperies... but I do need a haircut and I do need some new clothes.. (think primark not prada..) I also need, yes need to replace our bedding as this is really ancient so will report back on how I get on, and how much I manage to save.. coz I hate spending money....:D

Had a letter from PRAT, still no demand for money, but a statement with a f & f offer attached.. a whole £452 reduction.. umm.. no I don't think so particularly as I haven't paid you anything yet since going self managed.. their choice not mine..!

    No other news for today..

Yet another week has gone flying by.. soon be Christmas...:D

So had a spendy weekend with having last Friday off as well, I did get my hair cut and got a 25% discount due to who I work for.. :money: still cost £30.... I then went and bought new bedding - duvet, sheet, pillows and cases and duvet cover...£70.. Its lovely and like going to bed in a hotel.. well overdue....

I also then went and bought some new trousers and a top.. £32..... . I also took lovely mother out for a belated mothers day.. £60... and now I have stopped spending....

OH away at the minute so all quiet at home, dd a little up and down, less than a month until the first exams now.....

Just got my RAC renewal quote in .. £147.99:eek: Now I had been putting some away for this as I got caught out last year... last years renewal was £105 for 18 months so this years seems extreme.. So I have rung and got it knocked down to £103.99... much better as I have £90 saved already...

No dmp news all ticking along, still no demands from PRAT...

Lots of work to be doing so need to buzz off out now....

  • Sorry about your RAC quote, Puzz:(. I'm a total breakdown cover tart, switch from company to company every couple of years:o. Have been with AA, RAC, Green Flag and another one I can't remember the name of:o in recent years.

I get a fantastic 'new customer' discount plus cashback from Quidco or TopCashback. Not sure you could do it every year, they'd get to know you, but for me it's about 6 years between returning. Left RAC last year as their negotiated discount was still too high. Am now with AA which was slightly cheaper than that but I got £40 cashback as well so well worth doing:T. Not sure what this year's discount will be (I'm a fierce haggler;)) but will probably stay another year if they give me a good deal.

I'm glad you had a good spending spree. All essentials after all and you deserve a treat every now and then. It's the only way through this debt tunnel sometimes. I'm splashing out on a new haircut tomorrow. Dreading it and looking forwardto it at the same time. Having a lot cut off this time and as I've never had short hair for donkey's years I'm trepidatious:o
