??
.
Sorry, I posted that at 4:45 - then went to feed the kids, our very slow internet must not have finished posting it until after your update! I was hoping that maybe the funds would have been transferred late this afternoon and you had completed but it sounds like not.
Your situation sounds like my worst nightmare - really hope you get it sorted tomorrow.Earn £2015 in 2015: £13:33/20150 -

Am I the only one thinking "completion date was 2 days ago, someone needs to make good the amount of stress this has caused" ?Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I'm still not entirely clear what the issue was, and I get the feeling you don't either. When the dust has settled, you have the keys, and nothing can go further wrong ... here's what I'd do:
Formal complaint to Halifax. Centred around lack of communication, lack of funds on day of completion, and 2 further days to resolve the matter. Endless stress, worry, etc. etc. etc.
Formal complaint to your solicitor's firm. Centred around lack of communication, lack of understanding, lack of urgency, stress and worry, negligence in terms of that £5 that seemed to cause issues earlier, and anything else you have but haven't written about.
Then, when the reply from the solicitor comes back that they did nothing wrong, escalate it to the legal ombudsman (http://www.legalombudsman.org.uk/)
None of this because I'd want a pay out, but I'd want to understand what went wrong. I'd want each institution to discover what went wrong with their internal processes. And I'd want to make sure no one else ever had to go through what you've been through!Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
