Are you using a National (cheap) conveyancing service or a respectable local firm?

Someone should have answers if funds were booked last week.

    Is there a chain?

There is no chain, vendor already has a house next street, we are first time buyers

& we have paid 750 to SOL so its not one of the cheap ones sourced online

Then someone should be able to give you specific answers, although 750 is case specific as this differs regionally so if this includes searches it is cheap.

That said, you should get answers. Most sols close at 5.30pm, I would be at their office asking the questions.

Someone has to give you a reason, Sols probably best bet..

    Good luck

Why don't you/didn't you just call the lender?
    Confused.

TBH there's little the borrower or the broker can do here.

The solicitor is the one who sends the report on title to the lender. If the lender has an issue with the vendor's solicitor, that is something only Halifax can resolve.

I'm not saying there's anything untoward going on, but the lender has to protect itself and you.

    Hi King

Completely understand, but why would halifax wait until the hour when they are suppose to transfer money on completion and then start to verify vendors solicitors ?

for some reason , things are not adding up right here

i have no clue what to do here, broker just called and said they are verifying vendors solicitor

but at stage/hour on completion ?

    Not a clue.

As much new ground for me as it is for you.

Never happened to me in 29 years.
