Halifax has emergency procedures to get money to solicitors quickly, if needed. If the solicitor needs help, they contact "completions" which brokers and punters have no access to and they will sort it between themselves.I am a mortgage broker. a lady from sol office called to inform that they called halifax and the response was
"still waiting for the release to be authorised"
does this mean they ll do credit check again or something ?0

The most likely explanation is that your solicitor is fending you off whilst they get the work done.
I strongly suspect you will complete today.I am a Mortgage Broker

I hope so... its just we have already left our house 12 days ago and been hopping at diff mate's place temporarily as the vendor delayed and we were already out of our rental agreement and they needed to carry out repair works
somehow they left us 1 small room to keep some of our stuff while we wait to complete
and this is really getting scary as its already 3pm now0

 hi,
am the phone with my SOl and the estate agent. My sol says that halifax is awaiting to check/confirm something with/about the vendors sol before releasing the funds
however my EA states it doesnt make much sense , why would they be checking something abt vendors sol , sounds about right to me as well
I have no idea what to do at this stage , its 4.47 pm now0

I would be talking with broker and Solicitor, do not worry what the EA says.
This is now unusualI am a Mortgage Broker

good luck. i cant offer specific advise but dont believe EAs when talking anything about mortgage. they normally dont know what they are talking about and still pretend to be experts. Your solicitor and broker are the only two people who can give useful advise/help.0

Are you using a National (cheap) conveyancing service or a respectable local firm?
Someone should have answers if funds were booked last week.
