Can anyone help? I've got some age spots that refuse to budge. I've tried Mandelic 20% and Glycolic 50% (sometimes together) to no avail. Anyone got any ideas?
Rather than going to ever higher DIY concentrations and risk doing your skin some permanent damage, I'd suggest paying for a consultation with a dermatologist if it is really bothering you.
This is just my opinion, but 50% glycolic already sounds riskily high for doing it by yourself at home. How would you feel if, going even higher, you ended up with some kind of weird scarring as well as age spots?0 -

Thanks for your input APOT. Does anyone else have any thoughts? Is 50% glycolic too high? (I've been using it for years with no adverse effects). I'd be interested to hear what others think.0 -
I thought anything over 20% had to be by prescription only? Although I am totally prepared to be told I am wrong, I have read this somewhere very recently!0

It's fine.
Age spots was why I started mandelic and being religious about min factor 40 on my face before I leave the house and they have gone.0 -
I've just turned 40, skin in relatively ok condition. Possibly dry and dehydrated......
What would you guys recommend?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
How sensitive is your skin?
Is it dull? Do you have enlarged pores? Or is it just dry?0 -

Thanks MM. Have you tried Salicylic for age spots?0 -
Salycilic seems to be better for blemishes I have added some of that to collidial silver that I use nightly and any period spots I get go in a day.
The mandelic and malic mix I have I use for 6 weeks working up to 4 layers have 6 weeks off and restart. The apprentice at work said that I wasn't much older than him last week lol. So its working.0 -

I don't notice it as sensitive, maybe if I am over keen with an eexfoliator itcan can be tender or red, but day to day I don't notice anything really .
No enlarged pores, spots or blemishes.
Dull! That is totally what it is, I couldn't explain it, but that's the word. There's no glow, or health from it.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Ah then I would start with a low dose glycolic or lactic acid on for no more than 2 mins.
Don't expect to see a huge difference immediately it's culmative.
You can get low dose kits from boots or asda if your worried about buying from the Internet.
Make sure to moisturise and use sun screen even now. This is very important your skin becomes more prone to sun damage0
