I've noticed a much bigger empty space at the top of 4 pints of milk at Tesco.  4cm of empty space to be exact.
But it still contains 4 pints of milk so just packaging reduced.
How does that work?  Surely if the packaging had been reduced the "empty space at the top" would have reduced, not got bigger.
🤣🤣 I read it that the shelf space had got bigger making the bottle smaller 🤣🤣

I stand corrected, the shape has probably changed but as long as it still contains the correct 2.27l then I don’t see a problem
As far as I can tell the bottles are exactly the same shape so they look like they have less milk in them,  I will have to find a variety of jugs to pour it all into and measure!

I doubt that as they wouldn’t be allowed to state 2.27l and not contain that amount but it would be interesting to see.

I collect egg cups and I have several from the 1970s. I asked husband if he was buying organic mixed eggs from Sainsbury's and he told me no, they are large own brand Sainsbury's organic. Yet they are inside the egg cup, with a gap around the egg, not sitting up nicely. So large eggs are smaller than they used to be !

Actually my experience seems to be exactly the opposite.

I have a few egg cups from years gone by, which I have been 'collecting' from a charity shop, however the problem I've had is that the cups are too small for the large eggs that I buy. Aluminium, stoneware, porcelain (I'm guessing really) all too small, but the last ones I bought are just right, by Henriot Quimper France. They are handmade and incorporate a small saucer into the ceramic design, very useful for me.

I buy eggs from Home Bargains (best flavour), Iceland and Lidl.

Noticed today in our Tesco that the Tesco British Barn cartons of 15 eggs that were £1.99 have now been replaced with cartons of 10 eggs for £1.60.

Crafty little 20% increase (per egg) that is tesco

I don’t think they have - eggs are graded by weight and a large egg can weigh anything between 63g and 73g and as far as I can remember, it’s been that way since the small, medium, large designation replaced the old size 1,2,3 etc.

Either the shape of the egg is slightly different or more likely, you’ve got large eggs which are closer to 63g than 73g.

As hens get older, they lay bigger eggs, so the size of eggs within that band will always change but if an egg is between those limits, it will always be classed as a large egg.

re eggs: I have always felt that the "mixed sizes" are in fact all small to medium sized, never seen a large egg in those packs.

  • Hi all
Hunted everywhere for my usual asda own brand non bio triple action washing machine capsules, only to find they had been changed to a new cardboard packaging, but wait there is more.
On opening the child proof cardboard box, we noticed the capsules seemed smaller and they are, quite a bit smaller.

    Original box is 36x 24.5g 36 washes
New box is   36x 13g still 36 washes

    Original box £7.75
    New box £5.50

Both have exactly the same dosage chart.

No mention of ingredients being changed, to make them stronger or concentrated, just the packaging changing to cardboard.

Think we worked it out that you would need 1.88 New capsules to be the same as the original ones.

This would be happening across all the laundry capsules, I believe.

    What do you think??????

Old ones - 15-30% non ionic sufficant, anionic sufficant, 5% soap
New ones - difficult to read, and I can't find a better picture online, but it looks like more than or equal to 30% anionic sufficant plus 15-30% non ionic sufficant. 5-15% soap.

    That's the ingredient change.
